This is exactly why I think he's a near lock to make this team. They're not going to go in with three sub par defenders at the 1, particularly when Coach K likes having his guards press full court.

Reportedly, Mike Dunleavy feels betrayed and has been giving Rose the silent treatment since Melo visited the UC.

Source?

There isn't one, he forgot the green font apparently.

Im not sure about starting though. Coach K is praising him so much it seems he is trying to soften that blow. But who knows....

Man that was the most terrible coverage of all time. Let's not show what's happening on the court, lets put the camera on the 3 announcers talking. Let's then put the camera on Chris Paul standing around in street clothes. Let's put the camera on a player when they're doing nothing, and then cut away to break or a video montage when they start doing something.

I'm SO happy we're finally posting about our own player. Just horribly sick of the speculation threads.

How the hell is he an administrator?!

If you were here when we have the pick swapping threads or Derricks Rookie year and read his posts rofl. He is the main reason why the Knicks board is the way it is

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

What we know is there are two former MVP's of the league on Team USA. If Rose remains healthy, he'll start in my view. Easy decision too. He plays under control. Pushes the ball, creates for Durant and plays defense. Coach K has always loved him.

Coach K isn't the only one praising him though.

Nick Friedell
Jim Boeheim says Rose has been his biggest surprise of Team USA camp so far. "He's been the most impressive guy here in watching him."

It seems like he has been the best player in training camp thus far.

I imagine thats because his effort level is higher. He is hungrier to prove himself as compared to the others. Same thing happened in pre-season. I dont think it means anything in terms of how quickly he gets back in rhytm come the regular season. There is no supplement for in game NBA speed.

Based on comments in this thread about the coverage, it would appear I made a sound choice by not waking up at 4an to watch this.

So their is an actual practice on Friday US time?

That's Sat for me, so I'm in.

Coach K loves Derrick!
"I take it very seriously, knowing my opponent really wants to come at me. It's not just God's gifts. You have to work at this game. If not, you're just going to be average. You have to want it and do whatever you have to do to get it."-D.Rose

Maybe they did this to not reveal their strengths and weaknesses to opposing FIBA contenders. Top secret Thib schemes.

This was an actual practice, just they wouldn't keep the camera on it, and there were about 40 players involved with select and prospect members all included.

On Friday is an actual game, the blue vs white scrimmage, where they split the squad into two teams and go at it in a game format. IIRC from last time.

No fleet Coach K is damn near worshiping him. He has had nothing but good things to say about Derrick al year even before training camp. If he's not starting every game then he' at least getting half the starts.

Effusive praise to be nice or not, I think Derrick does have a great chance to make the team if he keeps playing like he is.

It would be jolting to make such a big deal of him and then cut him, presuming he doesn't have some big setback.

Team USA is all about loyalty and continuity, if Rose is close to the same player he was, he's a core part of the team. Especially with so many older stars bowing out.

I'd be lying if I said Durant/Rose being the 'vocal leaders' of this team didn't scare me. Interesting to see what that will be like.

For the starting point, I think it comes down to Rose vs Curry. If Coach K wants another shooter out there, he'll start Curry, if he wants a better defender/creator, he'll start Rose.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Our process is much simpler.

"You play in the NBA? You're in". "You play in Europe? You're in".

He is going to be on this team. The only way he is not making it is if he is hurt and cant play. A former World Championship winning player and former league MVP doesn't try out with a chance to be cut. Especially coming off injury. He got assurances before hand.
