"But according to several reports Saturday, the idea of Anthony signing with the Bulls is just about running on fumes.

Bulls sources were mum on any Anthony talk, but they have taken notice of the reports coming out of New York that Anthony is expected to accept the Knicks’ five-year,
$129 million contract offer by Monday. According to the Daily News, the one stumbling block is that Anthony is holding out hope that good friend LeBron James can find the two a place where the money is good and they can run together...

If Anthony flips the switch on popular opinion and decides to sign with the Bulls as a free agent — especially because attempts at a sign-and-trade have been turned down — the rights to Mirotic would likely have to be shopped, especially if Mirotic’s days with Real Madrid have ended as badly as reported and the NBA is his only option.

The team also would look to move Mike Dunleavy and the $3 million he has coming, which could get the first year of the Anthony deal near the $14-$15 million range. That figure is nowhere near what the Knicks can do, but is all the Bulls can muster with Rose set to make $18.8 million during the 2014-15 season, Noah $12.2 million and Gibson $8 million..."

I clearly missed these reports...all the debbie downer news was yesterday, not today. I haven't heard anything like that.

If Bosh bolts for Houston, Melo can go to Miami and they can still get a decent center.

I wouldn't be too upset. Melo would be a step down from Bosh-- they would need size badly. We keep Taj and get medieval on their a**es.

He's not at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Edgewood or the YMCA downtown.

I had a source tell me via text that he's not at the Chuck E. Cheese next to Pizza Ranch either.

Did this tweet get posted in this thread?

@TimBontemps: This Lakers talk w/ Carmelo feels like one of two things: either he is angling for full max from Knicks or trying to force a S&T to Chicago.

Someone said why didn't Melo use Houston as leverage to sign outright instead of LA

and I quote:

Verily Ralph says unto you: The Bulls have given Melo two options. One with Gibson and one without Gibson and Melo getting the max. Also the Gasol stuff is linked to this. I can't get into specifics but the Bulls could land Melo at 22mil, Gasol at 8mil and still have the MLE for Nikola.

What was the one were an insider in the Knicks board claimed that Melo is in indeed leaving?

Why would Riley be courting Deng if Lebron/Bosh were staying...was he supposed to play the Battier role and come off the bench...between this and the Houston moving on to Bosh as plan b makes me think something is up.......add to that the fact that i read a report earlier that Phoenix was a dark horse for lebron and has room for a 2nd max FA....Is it possible lebron is attempting to convince Melo to go to Phoenix????

He can more realistically threaten to sign there outright.

They liked KG and Lebron too. Doesnt mean anything.

They really did like him. But MCdermout was listed much higher than harris and frankly mostly all the SG prospects. Bulls have been scouting him for years and he is the 4th largest scorer in college basketball history.

I guess the Chicago reporters didn't get the memo that we're supposed to be positive today
