Re: NBA Trade Thread #2
How about this:
Bulls-->ATL: #4 pick
ATL-->Bulls: #6 pick + Reddish
Is that a fair deal?

Here is the pick breakdown on the Jrue Holiday trade:
New Orleans receives
2020 1st (via IND)
2024 right to swap
2025 1st unprotected
2026 right to swap
2027 1st unprotected
That's an amazing haul. If Giannis signs a supermax today, he'd be on contract for 20-21, 21-22, 22-23, 23-24, 24-25. Which means even if he plays out the whole thing (and man that team might age badly due to limited flexibility), then that 2026 pick swap and 27 unprotected picks could be huge. If he bails after 3 years and demands a trade, then that that 25 pick could be huge too.

No way ATL does that.

You just have to wait a long time...

Yeah, but you were going to lose Holiday in 1 or 2 years anyway. You're about to embark on building a team around Zion and have reason to believe if he stays healthy that your picks might not be very good. Combine this with what they got from the Lakers, and its just a lot of optionality and extra picks to do things.

If Giannis doesn't sign immediately with these trades, and the team struggles for any reason this year, and he leaves, they are so hilariously screwed. It is an incredibly nutso haul for a non-all-star.
Well they don't have much left they can do moves wise. Probably all that is left is to take on long term money of a bad contract (but decent player) for salary relief. I'd guess this is it for them.
I like the Bogdanovich move. I think he fits what they're doing.
But I'd have rather taken a shot at CP3 or even Oladipo before selling out the whole future for Holiday.

I would have rather had CP3 than Holiday as well, but the salary probably just made that super difficult, I don't think they had the ability to get CP3 and Bogdanovich contractually (but haven't verified). I would do Holiday over Oladipo. Oladipo has literally only had one good year in his career and then tore his ACL. Maybe he'll be good again or maybe not, or maybe his one good year was kind of a fluke.
Holiday actually fills everything you need, good shooter, good playmaker, good defender. They would have been much better off just having kept Malcolm Brogdon and not paying through the nose for Holiday though.

I just don't get what the Bucks are doing with this Holiday move. THey had a younger, healthier, cheaper but worse version in Brogdan and let him go.

they're trying to make up for that mistake. i didnt understand why they let brogdan go to begin with.

The OKC picks from LAC could also be after KL and PG leave.

Eh that's different. You traded a lot to get 2 superstars in their prime. Holiday is not a star. He's a great starter.

Ha, you don't say...
It's become apparent that Hayes and Deni weren't the home-run #4 picks that mocks suggested a month ago.
You know that GarPax would've taken either and been "thrilled" with their new addition.

Re: NBA Trade Thread #2
Given what HOU got for Covington, are there restrictions on trading Otto now that he opted in?

Yep. I’m thinking Otto gets us Dinwiddie. We pick Williams or Deni and sign a vet for SF in FA.

Agree on brogdon, hes also an additional asset.
They did get picks in the malcomb trade I believe

They got the #24 in this draft and a 2nd. Rather have Malcom locked up and 3 1sts and 2 swaps than Holiday up for a monster deal and #24.
