I think the Heat could have been even better if they found more complimentary players, with that said they are lucky that LeBron is as flexible as he is. He is quite the unique talent. I'm not sure Harden, Melo, and Howard are quite as flexible. Mainly Harden and Melo. The sum of the parts will not match the results in my opinion.

I have my concerns about how Rose and Melo will mesh. However, I believe Rose will be a little more willing to relinquish to Melo because of the fact he has been out for two years.

I had initially thought that the only way the Bulls would be better, after acquiring Melo, was with a Boozer S&T, since I expected he would only accept near max. I believe that NY would not help facilitate a trade, until they were sure he would not return, and even then not accept Boozer as part of the deal.

That left the only opportunity of Melo accepting an lower offer, and then finding a 3rd team to take on Boozer. That would require, at a minimum 3 1sts, a couple for the 3rd team, plus Mirotic, and the other one for NY.

It is was indeed possible that Melo would accept that offer, you have to decide why you would you want to do a S&T, even if they took Boozer?

Doing the S&T costs the picks, Mirotic, and having a Melo's higher salary on the books, for the next 4 years. It gains you the MLE, BAE, Randolph, and Snell. Would you really trade all those resources for those players? Or even those players, and Jimmy?

It is a different story, if Melo can leverage an offer from a different team, to force a S&T, to the Bulls, but otherwise, I do not see enough benefits of a S&T versus an outright signing.

There is a reason each Texas team is getting half the visit time the bulls got.
