I don't see star potential for LaVine in the traditional sense either, but I do think he's a talented player and that there's a system out there that can get the most out of him.

Klay plays defense.

He didn't his first few years in league.

You know what makes this even worse? The Kings are going to be one this franchise's biggest cap space competitors next year. Every big salary on their roster expires next summer. Now they are pretty much guaranteed to have way more cap room than the Bulls.

Overall, this isn't THAT bad of a deal for a player with his potential. It's overpaying, but not nearly to a Felicio level. He could easily live up to this deal.

I understand from a Woj interview that the contract has some protections for the team IF LaVine has an injury to his operated knee. Also, the salary cap is probably going to rise again in 2 years. I'd rather take the chance on $18 Million for Lavine and hope he comes around to fulfill his potential than sign an aging, injury prone superstar at close to $40 Million a year. There is a possibility that Lavine will still be earning his money when the contract is in its final year. Down in Houston the Rockets are going to be signing over big checks to Chris Paul in 2021 and 2022 as he watches games from the bench, his couch, or a hospital bed.

Bulls are being overcriticized. They lack talent and lavine is the most Talented baller in that roster. It's not a guarentee they will draw free agents next year just because they have cap space. If they lost lavine, they rebuilding would presumably prolong.

I hear that the World of Warcraft is going to have GarPax as a raid boss in their next expansion.

The Kings being the Kings, they just may be interested in trading for LaVine next summer. SAC is going to have close to 65 M in cap space. What FA is going to want to go there? Could be an escape hatch for the Bulls.

GS gonna rule the nba for the next 3 years anyway, so we ain’t contending anytime soon and under the new lottery system tanking hard is overrated anyway. That said, if Zach plays like an all star then we got a steal; if he is crap like some of are convinced he is, then we gonna suck and be back in lottery again. I just don’t understand why some of y’all are so quick to condemn Zach as being Ron Mercer 2.0. After that twolves game a majority of board was saying what a genius move the trade was. Dude is 23; a year younger than buddy hield and the kings doctors said the knee was fine enough to give the green light for vlade to commit his entire cap room despite having bogdonavic and hield. A part of me wanted us to reject just to screw over the kings but that’s just spite and assumes divac is a complete moron. Let’s give him as well as garpax the benefit of the doubt. They obviously saw something special in Zach to commit that much money. Trust the process. And yeah I’m trying to rationalize this chit and being homer, but better that than being friggin chicken little and crying bout the sky falling. I think Carter and hutch will be good ones; Dunn and Lavine will be better and work better together; and hopefully Lauri doesn’t have a sophomore slump. We gonna have balance and a group of hardworking young guns. My hope is that Hoiberg finally has the offensive firepower to play an exciting brand of fun bball and be seen as a young team on the rise. That will bring the FAs to sign here.

And they still won't sign any one good unless they massively overpay. That's why they gambled on Zach because they know no player with a lot of options is coming there. And they don't get their lottery pick next season. We are a LOT better off than them. No comparison really.

LaVine will be paid more than I'd like, but that's just the reality now, and reality does not care what I'd like or not like.

So, what I do is I accept the reality as it is, and root for Zach LaVine to play at the level of his contract. I'd hope he outplays it, but that doesn't seem realistic to me.

So go, LaVine, prove us skeptics wrong! Be and all star, be the difference maker, be the guy we saw taking down Minnesota! You have it in you! Somewhere...

The Starters (NBA TV) said it wasn’t that bad of a deal. Bulls potential remains to be seen....

More than Nwaba now, I want us to go after Vonleh and retain him.

There are no minutes for Vonleh. Unless he takes the minimum on one year deal I can't see the Bulls being bothered.

This franchise matched an $80million offer sheet for a player that was only seriously wanted by the SACRAMENTO KINGS.

Let me repeat: SACRAMENTO KINGS

If you are supportive of that well I hope that is some sweet, tasty Kool-Aid.

Wanted or used the Bulls to match to make them one of the few destinations left where they can take on bad deals for picks?

Good players have used the Kings for leverage. It's possible that's the case here with LaVine too.

We were never going to sign two max free agent next year. One legitimate max player would be a miracle.

I’m not being facetious, but in all seriousness, they are at a huge disadvantage if they are trying to attract talent to live in Sacramento.

Possible? It's obvious LaVine used them for leverage. His statement after signing the offer sheet let it be known that he would much rather be in Chicago.

the sacramento kings are an awfully bold front office if they're willing to take on the risk of signing a dude to a 4 year / $80 million contract just to eliminate another team's cap space

(In my Lakers fan voice) Yeah we will definitely have a lineup next season of

Kyrie/LaVine/Buckets/Lauri/AD

That should be enough to take Warrior gods the distance.
