Wondering what you all think about either of these two deal......

Jose Calderon, James Johnson and the 8th pick for Deng

Jose Calderon, Ed Davis and the 8th pick for Deng and 29

Neither deals saves the money the Bulls want. Wondering if you all would pull the trigger on either of those though?

I would do #2 but only if the Bulls like somebody at 8 that they think can at least replicate Deng's production.

If the Bulls really feel like they can get a difference maker at #8, I'd do the 2nd trade. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the prospects outside the top 5.

I wouldn't make either deal.

Is this being talked about? Is Deng being told he won't be traded or just not to GS?

Yes but it comes down to a lot of factors

- Mirotic
- Steal Trade
- Steal Picks
- Bobcats Pick

We're only really one player away from a title. A scenario I'd like to see

1). Carlos Boozer for Ben Gordon
2). Use MMLE on a PF

Jose Calderon, James Johnson and the 8th pick for Deng

I only would if I could then flip the #8 + Charlotte pick for the #2.
Then go talk to Orlando about Dwight.

I wouldn't rule out the Golden State trade just because KC Johnson says it won't happen. This years lottery will probably have the most trades in recent history with so many teams trying to adjust to the new CBA. Golden State could amnesty Richard Jefferson or bring a third team into the trade that wants Biedrins. It is also stupid of KC Johnson to make it seem like the Bulls are not considering several different offers for Deng because they will lose leverage with the team that they really do want to trade with.

I think the rumor of # 5 + Evans is the best trade scenario so far. Evans might overachieve next year because it will be a contract year for him. Barnes and Evans would also be a good fit together, Barnes takes a lot of jumpshots and Evans attacks the basket; their different style of play would create space for each other. I also think Evans cross-over skills and ability to be a secondary ball handler would help Rose a lot until he is 100%.

They should only make deals that make since.

If we agree that:

-The Bulls aren't winning a title next season
-Deng will be in street clothes for the first quarter of next season
-Deng is incapable of scoring consistently enough when Rose is unable to play
-The Bulls will probably not resign Deng to a brand new huge contract in two years
-Nobody wants Boozer via trade

If we agree on that, then why do we want to keep Deng if we have a chance to better position ourselves for 2013/2014 when Rose returns to (hopefully ) pre-injury form?

I would do number 2 because you could then Deal Taj if you wanted and get something good. This is the only year you are going to land a goldmine for Taj because of his deal.

It seems the like Trade Deng camp flippantly brings up how he doesnt shut down Lebron. I would put forth that the level of defense Deng does bring on Lebron is a main reason we're currently as close to Miami as we are.

Eliminate that defense from what we bring (to every game)...and feel the results you will.

You want to trade for an inferior player and leave a hole at power forward? Too many people on this board want to see the Bulls lose. I don't like that.

I don't expect ANYONE to cover LeBron. Having said that, I don't think Deng has a prayer of really covering him when he's determined to score (and not just dogging it). So I can't consider that as an argument to keep him.

Taj can start at PF if you add more offense to the SG or SF position.

I think you're missing the nuance of my point though. With Luol defending Lebron, we flat out defend the Heat better.

Without Luol, we lost the side of the ball we were elite on. We didn't get all those wins because we are an outstanding offensive team.
