Wow it actually happened. I was mentally preparing to be disappointed with Mike McCarthy.
Sorry Tom Brady!

He’s supposed to be a strong defensive mind, which is what a lot of us were hoping for if we hired BJ. He could have gone a few other directions too. But this works.

allen took the saints from the worst defense in the league to a regular top-10/occasional top-5 unit despite some severe salary cap constraints. bottom gave out this year, but he had a foot out the door basically all season long and the cap situation only got worse every year. he's basically the avatar of "highly regarded coordinator, poorly regarded head coach"

Poles, you have your HC. Now go out and get him an oustanding offensive line and maybe a big RB. First round: Kelvin Banks or Will Campbell. Second round #40 Wyatt Milum OL from West Virginia. #42 Shemar Stewart DE from Texas A&M. Third Round #74 Cam Skattebo RB Arizona State..

Just load up the money for the OL and I'll predict 10 wins for the 3rd straight season.

From an organizational perspective, the direction seems good, and we went with one of the premier, highly sought after candidates.
Hope it will work, it is a good swing at least.
This is very important. I liked Vrabel and Glenn as well. But KK was growing on me for the reason you stated.
In the back of mind, I think hitting on the right offensives minded HC provides more long term stability.
Maybe it is just me, but it seems like it is easier to find a replacement DC with an offensive minded HC than finding a good OC with a defensive minded HC.
I wonder if Rivera will be on the staff? Coach Brown?

I think one of the things is that I fee like elite OC's are now highly sought after and poached for HC jobs.

LOL, I was expecting the assistant to the assistant special teams coordinator from some random team from the XFL that also happened to be a Trace Armstrong client.
Color me surprised!

Well we got who most of us wanted. Hopefully it works out and Ben Johnson builds a perennial contender for the next decade plus.

Re: Bears 10.0: GM and coach watch before the draft
The cherry on top would be to poach the Lions OL coach Hank Fraley.
Here's what Ragnow said about Fraley.

Here's what Ragnow said about Fraley.
"No, you refuse to let Hank leave,” Ragnow said. “I haven’t played in this league without Hank and I don’t plan on doing it. I’ll sabotage him, I’ll leak stories, whatever it takes.”
When asked a follow-up question about what Fraley, who arrived as the Lions assistant offensive line coach the same year Ragnow was drafted (2018), means to him, Ragnow dove deeper.
“I don’t think I could play in this league without the guy. He’s everything to me. He’s been there since Day 1,” Ragnow said. “In this league, there are a lot of coaches, but there’s not many coaches like him that empower his players and really it is an open dialogue. He really does everything he can to put us in the best positions to be confident and go out there and play well.
"Again, I’ve said it before, but him being a former center in this league has been invaluable to me', Ragnow said. "Talking about how we see things, and not only him giving me advice, but me telling him how I see it and him being willing to listen. I think that’s so rare, and I'm just so grateful for him.”

I never thought there was a legit shot of landing him so I just defaulted to the asst but if can get him that would be insane

Would the Lions promote him to OC to keep him? Because Ben Johnson could offer him the OC job to entice him to come with.

Another plus to him is that has been a HC, so can help guide BJ a bit when needed in that area.
