Bron, Bosh & Rose = MJ, Pip & Payton (PER)

Bron, Bosh & Rose = MJ, Pip & Payton in their primes.

PER (75) wise this would be the greatest trio of ALL time. I'd hate to lose Noah but if you believe in PER, you gotta dig those numbers. Bron, Rose and Noah isn't bad, PER of 67.9 is still championship caliber.

The Bulls could alternately acquire Bosh in a sign-and-trade, but so far everything we've heard is that the front office would be unwilling to sacrifice Noah in the process. I would agree with the general premise of Noah being untouchable, but if the decision came down to a 'take it or leave it' where the Bulls for the next five years would either be LeBron, Rose and Bosh, or Joe Johnson, Rose and Noah, I think the answer should become very simplistic.

To make a rudimentary analogy, the below trio would essentially be taking Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, plus throwing in Gary Payton to play their entire primes together in the 1990s.

10-11 Bulls
LeBron: 31.2
Rose: 18.7
Bosh: 25.1
Total: 75.0

Comparing Bosh to Pippen is ridiculous. Bosh is a significant talent, but he can't even sniff the class of player tht Scottie Pippen was.

Ah, yes. Those were the days.

MJ, Pip, and Payton were a killer trio.

Wait...what?

I don't understand how Bosh/Rose = Pippen/Payton.

Not really. Different playing styles across the board.

The article is comparing the PER between the players. PER wise Mj and Bron are pretty much equal, same for Scottie and Bosh and Rose and Payton. He used MJ and Pip because they were Bulls players. Their styles are obviously different, but I think the caliber of each player is comparable.

I assume he was trying explain how ridiculously talented Bron, Bosh and Rose would be. It would be like having the Bulls talent circa the dynasty years plus a Gary Payton level talent.

+1

i'd almost say the same rose vs. payton

anyway, PER is garbage. not sure why it gets so much attention from intelligent basketball followers

Bron, Bosh & Rose does NOT equal MJ, Pip & Payton.

Not close.

This is a dream to put together, whereas the Lakers can do something similar (Kobe + Pau + Bosh) much more easily just by trading Bynum to Toronto if Bosh would like to come to L.A.

But Kobe's PER would be nowhere near MJ's or LeBron's. 8-)

True, because he's not as good as them. But the championship doesn't care for PER and they would be winning them all the same.

The Bulls front office is not gonna land both Lebron and Bosh. Count our lucky stars if we get just one of these players.

Thanks for the prediction Miss. Cleo. We have as good a chance as anybody else to get it. Though it might be improbable, we can't call it impossible. NY has the cap space, but for anyone that wants to contend from now throughout the next decade, they can't offer that.

Well, since you put it that way, I think the organization should go out and try to sign LeBron and Bosh this offseason. It would make the team pretty good.

I think the best the Bulls can do, being realistic, is sign Lee or JJ (along with LeBron, of course).
