I was in the locker room last night

I know some of you guys like the tid bits I try to pass on when I'm credentialed for games. I've only done two games this year so I don't have a bunch to pass on.
I interviewed Evan Turner. Good kid. Very lost. I spoke to Doug Collins, he's an awesome, awesome guy. When I asked Doug about some things that Evan told me he was pissed. The guy was super nice before the game and after taking a beating. But when I asked him about Evan's role he got mad.
Here is the interview:
http://www.examiner.com/nba-in-national ... van-turner On the Bulls front.. nothing new. All was great in Bulls world yesterday. I pretty much spoke to everyone but Kyle, C.J., and John Lucas. Taj told me he felt good yesterday. I think he wanted to play.
JJ doesn't seem like the happy camper he once was.
Keith Bogans said that his jumper was falling a lot in practice. He's been working with Ron Adams. Derrick has as well.
Scalabrine informed me that he doesn't wear a coat.
Omer Asik goes to the same mosque that I go to. I saw him a month ago and haven't seen him since. He gave me the "I speak no english" bit until he realized I was Muslim. He opened up to me and we chatted about religious stuff. He basically misses all of the Friday prayers because of practice or road trips.
Joakim harassed Noce and Marreese Speights in the hallway. It was funny. He kept calling Mareese his son. WHERE IS MY SON! HOW YOU DOING SON? Must be a Florida thing.
I never got to talk to Noce. I regret that.
No newsflashes or anything.
Here are some videos that I took:

Great stuff.
Sounds like Evan is right about the position stuff.
Thanks as always!

I could read JJ's body language at the end of the game that he wasn't happy. He didn't play that bad (yes, I know he had some TO's), and actually made some nice plays while in there. Maybe he knows that his name is being tossed around in trade rumors? You can tell that he likes this group of guys and that would suck to have to worry about being traded to another team and a new group of guys.

Good stuff brother. Loved how you took something Evan said, took it to the coach for clarification and got an emotional response. That's what good reporters do. They get passed the superficial BS and find the real story going on. It's clear that Collins has not figured out what to do with Turner.
Here's my guess. Philly wants to move Iggy so they can put Evan at the 2 permanently. Until that happens, Philly is going to have this problem.

I had no idea Turner was asked to play some PG. Having a rookie learn two positions seems like a good recipe to get not good results.
On the flip side, they are probably trying to find him minutes, he's not been playing great. Given he was the #2 overall pick I assumed they would give him a (one) position, I thought Iggy would play SF or be traded, but apparently not.

Omer the first Muslim in Bulls history??? NICE.
Salaam u Alaikum Sherron and thanks. I can sympathize with what he's going through on the Friday prayers - with work it's incredibly difficult to make them esp. since the mosque I go to is so far away from here.

He's probably not, they've had tons of players over 40 plus years. I thought(?) Craig Hodges was a muslim, but maybe not.
But you go Omer.
Edit - Charity beat me to it.

doug knows what he is doing.
If he is having an obvious 2 guard play PG (or learn that position) he is just hoping the kid will learn to pass the ball some when he ends up at his more natural SG...and not end up JR smith...I mean a chucker.

I think coaching staff as well as Turner are trying to figure out who he is and what he'll do at this level. His skills need improvement, but so do everybody's that's a rookie. It's not like his skillset is lacking in any particular area.

no problem. i have not watched enough 6er games to know exactly what's going on but i do know that the players like doug more than eddie jordan. it seems like they tried evan at 3 positions.

thanks. philly might want to do that.. but i think doug trusts iggy more. i think coaches just want to keep their jobs. developing young players is not doug's first priority.
