Boozer's D probably will hold us back....when he finally returns from his hand injury....and assuming he "fits" in of course....

But we have to take the good with the bad....this also means that Bogans will continue to start...at least until AP18 gets here.

With his ineptitude we're the #1 defensive team in the league. So yes, I'd say it's a decent reason.

Much like the "BG started on a #1 defensive team", individual defense is highly overrated in the NBA. Any NBA team can withstand one bad defender as long as it's not the center. But to gloss over everything Boozer does well and harp on his defense seems counterproductive to having Carlos Boozer. I mean how many PF score like Boozer and also defend? It's a really short list. So yeah, I would rather have Boozer's offense over anyone's defense.

Likewise, but the PF spot is another big, and can be interchangeable at times with C. When you're a complete non-factor on D, it brings down your team, and while we are number one in DRtg, we could be even better. Once again, it's not good to disregard flaws just because you're doing well.

That's not what I implied or said at all.

It is very difficult to have 5 "plus" defenders.

But when Noah gets back, and with Rose's improvement.....we can have 4 "plus" defenders (assuming AP18 or Brewer starts) and Boozer....

When your "bad" defender is a 20/10/2, super effecint PF......you are doing OK.

Again, defense is a team game. Individual defense doesn't matter. Yes Boozer is bad on defense, but he does not bring us down.

No where in my quote did I say we should stop improving the team or filling in holes. My point is that harping on Boozer's individual defense as if to imply we could be doing better defensively, is a moot argument. We are elite defensively. That is and always was the goal.

Rarely in the NBA do you have 5 players on the court who are all great individual defenders. That's not what you aim for. You aim to put 5 players on the court who buy into a defense, communicate and execute. That is what we've done and the numbers don't lie.

People used to make the same arguments about BG. They weren't true then either. I will say that BG was a better defender in his lat year then Booz though.
