SAS: LBJ, Wade and CB4 had no intention of joining the Bulls

Broadcaster Stephen A. Smith on LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh meeting with the Bulls last summer: "The reality is that the visits (with the Bulls) were bogus. There is no doubt about that. I know those guys and they are not going to be happy I said it. They'll get over it. It's true. They didn't have any intention of coming to Chicago."

Blah blah blah, no more last summer threads. I know. But I thought this was interesting by SAS, considering how he was the person apparently in the know last summer before everyone else that the Big 3 were coming to Miami. We all suspected this, but it still pisses me off seeing someone in the media confirm it.

Before the season I was a little upset about missing out on one or two of Bosh, LeBron, and Wade. But that was before Derrick Rose's explosion. He's basically graduated to just below the level of LeBron and Wade and at this point in their careers, you'd probably take Rose over Wade.

I never could have guessed Rose would be this great this year. He gives me hope that the Bulls will eventually be able to challenge the Heat for the Eastern Conference crown as the Heat develop into a perennial powerhouse ... which they will undoubtedly become sooner probably than later.

The emergence of Rose as a superstar himself though makes that reality far less intimidating.

Still boggles the mind to imagine what they were thinking... Those three guys plus Rose, Noah, Taj, Asik would have been just the beginning. I'd actually have preferred to hang on to Deng and just sign Wade & James. If the decision were truly just about basketball, Chicago was a no-brainer. As is, we're 2 of the top 3 teams in the East, 2 of the top 5 teams in the League. Had this summer gone differently, we'd have been darn near unstoppable.

Glad we have the pieces we wound up with, though... GREAT group to root for!
