Derrick Rose is by far the best defender at the point guard position in the league.

yeah and you'll have idiots on the gb arguing that chris paul, rondo and westbrook are better defensive players.

Man defense is only one part of defense. This stat says he's the most limiting on-man PG defender in the league. Does not surprise me in the least. He's quite focused in on his man. I think he could have more of a team impact by playing more aggressive and more intelligent team defense.

Same way advanced stats can't convince me DRose isn't an elite player, they're not gonna convince me that he's an elite defender. I have eyes.

but putting those numbers on the #1 defensive team......
on top of that team defense cannot be assigned to any one player on a defense. even if player X played perfect team defense, if the guy he is going to help sucked and the guy scored, does it really impact player X? assigning how well someone is at team defense really just boils down to funneling players to the correct area, preventing penetration, and stripping big men for point guards. i would like to believe rose is great at 2 of those 3 and would like him to go to strip big men more. but for team defense from point guard i think those three are really the biggest

like always there is never the end all be all stat for ranking players, but the above is extremely powerful in this argument.

And honestly, it just ends up making Bulls fans as a whole look insecure to have to jump up with such force to defend Derrick at the sign of any slight. Or at the sign of any potential for a slight (Speaking of how EVERY Rose thread on the GB has to have Bulls fans jump in and give the sarcastic answers of "He can't go left" or the such even before anyone has said anything bad about Rose).

I can understand the desire to talk basketball, but I cannot understand the desire to talk it with a group of people you tend to, for the most part, have little respect for their knowledge of the subject at hand.

ya, there are people on the GB worth talkin with, but like you said they arent posting their looking for their opinion to change

i totally agree, but these stats are very powerful. unless you are willing to admit you believe people he defend just dont try to score on him or dont try as hard against him, this paint him as an ELITE on ball defender.

Rose deserves a lot of credit for his defensive effort this year. These stats agree with what I've seen during games. He's been really good.
