Bulls trying to work deal for Lee

The Chicago Bulls are still pursuing shooting guard Courtney Lee, offering a first-round draft pick to the Houston Rockets, sources said.

Chicago could make the offer more intriguing with the addition of the Miami Heat’s 2011 first-round pick that the Bulls acquired from Toronto for forward James Johnson on Tuesday. For now, the Rockets are determined to bring back size and want Bulls center Omar Asik in any package for Lee.

The Bulls are determined to find a shooting guard before Thursday’s deadline.

Given the fit and his great contract, I'd be willing to give up the Bobcats pick for Lee. But no way in hell do I surrender Asik for a guy the Rockets are only playing 20 minutes a game.

I'm glad to hear that we are at least going after it in the trade market though.

I suppose I'd be willing to part with something like two 1st's and possibly a 2nd for Lee. I'm also glad the front office realizes the need for an upgrade at SG, I just hope they don't give up Taj or Omer to get it. If we're unable to attain an adequate upgrade for what we're offering, we're better off standing pat and looking to upgrade the SG spot during the offseason.

You either surrounded and give them what they want, keep trying without giving up our bigs, find a third team willing to trade their bigs to the Rockets, or move on and find the other target.

I will not surrounded and give up our bigs to the Rockets, I think we should look for a third team who is willing to trade their bigs to the Rockets. But I do not see that happening..

Anyway we are not giving up Asik for Lee. But I am happy to see that the Bulls are really pushing for that SG.

Bulls management are quite good at setting smoke screens - lets hope they are really working on an OJ Mayo trade.

Lol, Houston really is persistent and annoying. If we're not going to end up with Mayo, maybe we can send Memphis a 1st+2nd for Thabeet and then Thabeet can go to Houston while Chicago gets Lee.

Won't work. There's too big of a difference in outgoing and incoming salary on Houston's end.

I don't see the Bulls giving up Asik for Lee, even if he is a great fit. Asik is too important both this year and especially in the future when Kurt retires, but even now Omar can be a game-changer on defense and the offensive boards.

There are too many other short-term options like Parker, possibly Mayo, or even a Rip Hamilton that won't cost as much if he's bought out. And this offseason should offer plenty of chances to get a significant long-term upgrade to Bogans.

Trade 3 first-rounders (Bobcats/Miami/Bulls) if you need to get the deal done, a 1-to-1 replacement of Courtney Lee for James Johnson would make me feel a lot better about getting rid of JJ and the monster games he'll now likely put up occasionally.
