Rumors

Mods feel free to lock if I'm out of line. I've told people to take with a grain of salt but I know some like to hear what I get and there's a couple of teams so didn't know what thread it would really fit in.
My buddy contacted me earlier this evening and said he heard the Bulls have talked to the Rockets, Pistons, Knicks and Nets over the weekend. He didn't have specifics for me but was trying to find out more.
Again don't take it serious, just thought I'd share it. The team that caught me by surprise was Detroit. The rest of teams made sense because we could either trade for a SG or in NY case move up to 17 for Brooks.

Thanks Ralph for the info. My guess with Detroit, and again, speculation on my part is something along the lines for Gordon. Don't see us going for Rip. I can see us doing Korver, Watson, 28, 30 for Gordon and #8 *assuming* that Detroit is tryning to shed salary before the CBA is renegotiated.
With Rockets -- it'll be surrounding Lee. Small chance re: Kevin Martin. Knicks would likely be their pick for all of ours. And the Nets - maybe Anthony Morrow. Just guesses on my part.
Would love for others with sources to chime in with what they hear.

Thanks, Ralph.
Always fun to hear from insiders, grain of salt or not.

I'm taking it as a grain of sea salt....which is bigger than table salt...but still salt.

For the most part I agree, but it's hard seeing the Bulls willing to take on B. Gordons contract. I think it would be for R. Hamilton instead.

I agree -- in that it's prolly Rip due to length of contract. But IMO, it makes no sense to try to land Rip due to age and contract. At least Gordon is several years younger, and has been around here with Rose, Deng, and Noah. I rather go for Stephen Jackson over Rip. I think the cost be cheaper, shorter deal, and currently a better player. Just playing with trade checker for fun: Lucas, Pargo, Bogans, and either Korver or Brewer works for Gordon. If that was the cost, it's tempting, assuming we'd pay the salary. I'm not hell-bent on landing Gordon. I've moved on, but I do think he'd be a solid fit here (again). That said, we have teams to talk to, and numerous guys who can be an upgrade for us. Landing #17 for Marshon Brooks would be nasty.

If it's our garbage for BG and the #8 that would be awesome.

Thanks Ralph...it's always great when you share these with us. Especially during the the off-season when news is scarce as is. I mean all of us here are Bulls/NBA junkies so we crave for it anyway!

I mean, you'd kind of hope that the Bulls were talking to every single team in the league right now to improve the team.

Maybe we can get Dragic and Lee if we have to give up Asik (and ship out Watson?). If we are giving up Asik for Lee, Dragic must come back!

A week from today is going to be crazy, as we get closer to the draft. If the Bulls want to make a move its probably going to happen near or on draft night before the CBA expires. I just don't see them exploring trades after all the turmoil that will ensue with the lockout and having to be thrown into the fire right away to make up some of the games.

Wouldn't a deal be more likely to happen when the new CBA is reached though? I just don't see teams moving players with significant salary until we know what's really going to be up.
Only deals on draft night I'd guess will probably be involving picks and low salary players.

Thanks Ralph. Please always keep them coming.
TechNine same for you....and Doug if you know anything.
Ralph,
Can you just ask your source if it is likely or unlikely that we make a move that will affect the starting lineup?

That could be the case. I don't remember what happened during the last lockout as far as how soon they start playing the games and if there is even enough time for teams to go through a FA period and have the time to incorporate new players.
