If he goes 2-5 from downtown and those are his only looks, I'm actually fine with that. He's a little more of a ball player than Korver, you know?

As Krause figured 15 years ago when signing Rodman, although Rodman was a different kind of knucklehead than Smith.

- Rodman had already proven to be a championship caliber player
- Jordan was an undisputed alpha dog
- Jackson is the greatest headcase/ego manager ever

JR Smith's family may cause WWIII.

Think of all the open looks he'd get here... more than any in his entire career...

Career 37% shooter. Shot 39% last year on 318 attempts; 39.7% in 08-09 on 453.

He's a knucklehead, but you just got to do it.

Rose/Smith/Hamilton/Deng/Noah to end games? Miami wouldn't be able to stop that attack. The spacing alone is ridiculous.

we use the "imagine all the open looks" with everyone that plays with Rose, fact is JR will take shots when he isn't open... from 3 feet behind the 3 point line (obvious exaggeration but he has taken a lot of dumb/bad shots), he can be helpful off the bench though

Well said.

It's embarrassing when people compare a hall of famer, Rodman, to someone who killed a guy and lacks basketball smarts. Good grief.

Rodman's main drawbacks were he was really strange and he played dirty. He didn't play dirty on the Bulls after one preseason dirty play that was dealt with. Rodman did not get into trouble with the law and he was really really smart basketball-wise.

Rodman and JR Smith have no bearing on each other, please, make it stop someone.

JR Smith shot almost 50% from deep in spot up attempts last season.

Cliff Levingston wrote:It's quite possible that the Bulls have a verbal agreement with him: sign him for the minimum when he's ready with the intention of signing him long-term next offseason. We've even had that discussion here about a nice way to possibly improve the team while cutting some costs: letting both Brewer and Korver walk next offseason, Butler takes Brewer's role over while Smith steps in as the leader of the second unit's offense. That would be sweetness.

You sir Cliff came up with the same idea as me regarding JR Smith. Sign and trade involving Korver and a pick. Sign him to a 3 year contract. See if he can handle starting once Rip decides to retire.
Are back court would be incredible with:
Rose/Watson
Rip/JR
Deng/Brewer
No need for Korver

I would be more than happy signing JR Smith and then giving Korver 0 minutes if everyone is healthy.

so we could end looking like

Rose - CJ - JL3 (Better chase mills in march)
Rip - JR
Turk - Brewer - Butler
Boozer - Gibson - Scalabrine
Howard - Asik

Would really love to see this happen. While he may be a bit of a nut, he would bring a much needed dimension to this team that it desperately needs: a primary ballhandler/scorer besides Rose. Would also allow more time for Rip to heal up.

No matter what anyone says, he's a substantial upgrade over Korver. Would be a great acquisition.

Switch Brewer and Turk. Plus one of Asik or Gibson would likely also be included. Either way, that's a title team and dynasty in the making.

That's a fun thought :D .

I haven't been able to find a 5 that I really like for the Bulls when MIA goes small. But what you just suggested takes a lot of the thinking out of the equation. Our best 5 against your best 5 if you want to go small.

Should JR be available once his teams losses in the playoffs?

I wouldn't be opposed to JR, but man he is bound to bring unwanted attention to our team I'm not exactly looking forward to.

Is there any evidence other than...Woody Paige?

Come on. Woody Paige says random things ALL THE TIME. It's his schtick. If that is the only source (my laziness prevents me from searching whether or not this is actually the case), then there is no source.
