MADRID -- Serge Ibaka believes Spain's Olympic basketball team has the talent to match the U.S. squad.

He's confident the 2008 silver medalists can compete with the 2012 gold medal favorites and world champions during the Games.

"They are just like us, they also have players with a lot of talent," the Oklahoma City power forward said Saturday in his first full day of training with the Spanish team. "They are a different team to 2008, but their players are still very good."

Great Britain played France in a friendly today which was Deng's first appearance this summer. After being up 18 at halftime, GB had a terrible second half and lost by 5.

Deng had 23 points and 12 rebounds.

GB play Spain on Monday. Deng will be playing again and probably in the remaining of warmup games including vs USA on 19th July.

That's wishful thinking, Serge. Just as any REAL patriot would say, the USA will steamroll the Olympics.

Greece lost to Nigeria (who also beat Lithuania in the group stages) in the Olympic qualifying tournament, which means they did not qualify.

The semis of the Olympic qualifying tournament are today. There is no final because the winners of the semis qualify for the Olympics, while the two losers playoff for the final spot in the Olympics.

Semis:

Nigeria vs Russia
Lithuania vs Dominican Republic

Meaning one of Nigeria or Dominican Republic will be in the Olympics.

Deng acknowledged recently to ESPN.com after a training session with Britain that the Bulls' brass didn't want him to play in the Olympics.

"I wouldn't want me to play (in the Olympics), either," he said. "(Bulls executive vice president John Paxson) is an athlete, and, as an athlete who used to play, Pax understands me wanting to play. But as a GM, that's his job to try and get the team healthy and get the team ready for next year. I understand both sides to it.

"But it comes down to an injury that happened at the wrong time. I just try to let people know I'm going to be OK."

"I love the fact that he is that loyal to his country," said Krzyzewski, who coached Deng at Duke. "Luol is one of the great guys on this planet, and besides being a very talented player, he has a heart and feelings of a remarkable guy. Great Britain did something for his country, for his family that saved their lives. His dad was in exile in Great Britain, so there's an allegiance there. I love the fact he feels that way. I'm proud of him, I'm proud to have coached him and I'm even more proud to be his friend. He's one exceptional human being."

When asked whether he understood why the Bulls would be upset with Deng for putting off the surgery, Krzyzewski reiterated his support for the All-Star forward, saying he believes this experience will make his former player stronger.

Is there anywhere to watch these games aside from illegal streams? Nothing on ESPN3 unfortunately.

Brian Mahoney ‏@briancmahoney

AP source: Iguodala, Griffin, Harden take last 3 U.S. Olympic team spots. Gay, Gordon, Davis miss out.

I'm mildly disappointed about Davis but not surprised. I would've liked to see what he was capable of.

Something to think about

Westbrook went to School with Kevin Love
Westbrook, Love, and Rose want to play together Per Source - http://slumz.boxden.com/f16/kevin-love- ... r-1472418/
Westbrook and Love get to catchup while Rose rehabs

Why do I feel like Love would go to OKC in 2015?
