Nike to Adidas Converters

I am curious to how many people fall into this Category.

I am not a "sneaker head" but when I do need a pair of basketball shoe use to only buy Nikes (thanks to MJ), but since D.Rose came into the league I converted and only buy Adidas. I guess my pride in my team's top player with a shoe deal does warp my brand choice.

Is anyone else doing the same :D

I hate Adidas, I just don't like the style of their shoes. I love Nike's. I could really care less about what D.Rose wears...especially because I am extremely skeptical of the entire "Light" shoe thing as it seems as if it wouldn't provide the necessary support. Rose may have the lightest shoes but he also needs to augment them with a ton of ankle and knee braces. And that was before the injury. That never sat well with me.

I'm open in wearing different brands, but I truly prefer Nike brand shoes.

Er, no. Nike make the best performance basketball shoes. No one else comes close. Couldn't care less what shoe Rose wants to wear.

Heck no.

I blame Rose's injury on Adidas.

I think Nike is the most overrated major product brand out there. Its straight marketing brilliance and little else. I wear mostly adidas but not always. I haven't purchased a Nike shoe in 25 years.

I played one season with Adidas....and I'm still regretting this. I tried 2 different Adidas Shoes that year and I had huge problems with both.

Adidas Shoes are MURDER DEATH KILL for feet.

Nike's flexibility is amazing. You play Basketball.....you should definitely wear Nike.

The thing that sucks about Nike is that I pretty much can't wear them sue to them being undersized. I wear 12 in all brands, but 12 in Nike is always too small at least in running shoes (I have had a basketball Nike 12 that worked once), and there is no 12 1/2, and 13 is too big. That's OK though cause Asics are great for running and while Nike's are very stylish, they seem overpriced usually. All that said, my current bball shoes are those size 12 Nikes and while they are a bit snug, they're great shoes. My favorite pair ever for bball for a Jordan brand white and blue I think "Eddie Jones" :) shoes. Reebok has been awful for hoops for me, and I've never tried adidas. Next time for hoops shoes, it will be Nike if they fit, Adidas if they don't. The options are slim.

Not really. Nike basketball shoes are head and shoulders above the rest with regards to performance. It's noticeable.

I mostly don't like the look of Adidas. Most bball shoes I own are actually Jordan's. With that being said, I don't play like I used to so it's less important to me. I normally buy casual running shoes now. For example I just bought these Nike shoes. I wear a lot of Saucony too, like these in many colors. My active shoes now are running shoes. Again, I use Saucony though I've been open to other brands... I just happen to go with Saucony cause of looks or fit on certain ones. I currently run in these which I absolutely love. Yea, I kinda went OT here... oh well.

Nike running shoes suck. Hard. I prefer Asics.

I don't believe shoes make as much of a difference as people think. In fact, there are numerous studies that indicate shoes can actually do more harm than good - i.e., running.

Doesn't a shoe that does more harm indicate there is a difference between them?

They do. I have a pair of Nike running shoes and they're hot garbage.

I can't really speak for the basketball shoes (I'm more of a runner, so when I do play ball I usually just play in those...mainly due to financial constraints).

New Balance, Asics, Adidas all make better running shoes IMO.

That said- every casual gym shoe I buy is Nike. Their style is matched by no one.

I actually meant wearing shoes vs. not wearing shoes.

However, the question seems to be centered around whether or not certain shoes are helpful. I think we can all agree there are shoes that are not healthy to wear (e.g., stilletos).

Studies that show it's safer to run without shoes than with shoes?

My kids who put up big miles running cross country and track have switched away from Nike.
They had no big complaint with Nike but my daughter now runs with Adidas shoes and my son uses New Balance. Nike has always sold style and has done well switching to the minimal shoe style before the other big companies.

As far as hip and knee problems are concerned, yes.

Well it appears overwhelming that I am the only converter.
