This thread is intended to be a positive discussion thread. This season was tough. The odds were extremely slim to be a true contender. We waited and waited and waited and waited yet there was no #thereturn. We faced injuries all year. We had a miscast of the bench mob. Yet there is much positives to take from this season. Wanted to discuss that here.

1) Jimmy Butler
This is our future starting SG. The amount of work this kid put in, I see him continuing to improve. Is it weird now that when he shoots a 3, I expect it go in? I don't see a Kyle Korver in him, but perhaps a Deng (best 3pt% season). I see this kid being all that we want at SG. Attacks the rim, can spot up for 3, stellar D, play transition.

2) Joakim Noah
Perennial DPOY candiate and improved offensive game. Wow, how far as he come since being drafted. Just love everything about this guy.

3) Nate Robinson
Sign him. No other option. Has balls. We need that. Ball-handler. Fearless. Streaky. Can light it up. This guy was our offensive work-horse.

Jimmy Butler: He is a starter in this league

Coach Thib's: We have a top 3 coach in this league

Culture of our team: I think the culture of our team is firm and solidified right now, and whoever ends up on our team, I think the league knows that you have to be tough minded, and at some point you're going to get a chance to contribute

Those two are the biggest positives. As for Jo, we've always known he could do what he did this season, he just needs to stay healthy, and that goes the same with Deng.

2. That's the easy answer, but I want to touch a narrative that blew up. You know, the one that the Bulls are a regular season team and that Thibodeau is a regular season coach. No one gave the Bulls a chance to beat the Nets who, on paper, were clearly the better team. No more can people just write the Bulls off as a regular season only team and cite the Philly loss.

Jimmy Butler changes everything.

Positives from this season:

- Derrick Rose did not get reinjured.

- Jimmy G. Buckets (I admit I didn't like that nickname at first, but I have fully embraced it now.)

- Joakim Noah

- Validation of Tom Thibodeau: This season proved to me that Thibs' first two years were not a fluke. He can take a motley group of not-so-good defensive players like Marco Belinelli and Nate Robinson and turn them into an elite defensive unit. The way he gets everyone to do their job well on defense is amazing.

Some awesome moments.

Comeback against Detroit with Jo's save.
3OT against Nets.
Jo's triple doubles.
Comeback against NYK with an explosion from Nate.
Sweeping NYK.
Breaking streaks and breaking hearts.
Marco GW against Jazz.

Jo's game 7.

That Game 7 in Brooklyn made everything in this season worth it. The progression of Butler and Noah is stuff that can carry onward.

Unlike last season, this offseason can be looked at as one of hope. Yeah, the problem of the LeBrons isn't going away, but at least we can be hopeful of a legit shot next year.

The Jimmy Butler thread. He is either our future starting shooting guard or is the starting forward allowing us to take Deng and flip him for some offensive minded guys.

For as snake bit as this team was, I can't help but be somewhat satisfied with the result. Discuss.

These. There has been a little bit of talk about Thibs burning out his team like other demanding coaches have. Well, the roster had a slew of reasons to give up on this season but doubled down on Thibs' 'No excuses' philosophy instead. Coach Thibodeau is here to stay. Lingering issues with Thibs will be discussed elsewhere, but the Chicago Bulls organization is now undoubtedly tied to him, like Pop's Spurs and Rivers' Celtics.

Jimmy coming on was unexpected by many. There was considerable doubt whether he could fill Brewer's minutes. Now he's a two-way player at the seemingly un-fillable 2-guard spot, an ever-improving offensive player who will make things as easy for Rose's Bulls as ever, and officially a matchup guy against the Heat.

The emergence of Jimmy Buckets, clearly.

I think he makes Deng expendable.

We need more firepower at the other wing position.

Every Bull fan should be proud to support such a great team.

I was pretty upset when we took Butler over Parsons. It was definitely the right pick.

I'd like to keep Deng instead of trying to make too many moves. Shipping out Deng and moving Butler to SF would leave a huge hole at SG yet again. If we keep all our starters we have an extremely balanced starting 5. Just fill in some good backups and we will be solid.

Dealing Deng would be part of the long game.

I can't see us re-signing him in 2014.
