I love me some Jimmy, but damn!

Since most people, including me thought this was real, it's important to stress that this was just an April Fools joke.

I think 7-8 is what he's realistically looking for

I'd let him test RFA. However if he wants $10 million, I'm more open to trading him than before.

4 years, $28-$32 million

Not surprised. But he's not worth that of course. The Bulls shouldn't be any rush to ink Jimmy up again this summer.

5m should be the minimum and 8m should be the max.

He's the best Lebron defender in the game and he's rounding into a decent offensive player

For comparison's sake, washed up Tony Allen is on a 4/20

Eh, Jimmy at 10 isn't some outrageous demand considering the cap is going up and he can make a very good argument that he's been as good as Deng was and the Bulls were willing to offer Deng 10 million so...yeah. Also, most guys on rookie extensions tend to get overpaid because there is still a glimmer of potential where as future deals are more about what you can do.

Can't say I'm surprised, his name has popped up enough in the media for his agent to start looking at the potential big bucks. Of course he doesn't deserve that much, but there's a team out there that would be willing to pay it for his defense.

He worked his way to being considered an all-nba defender and possibly the best or one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. Still, his lack of offensive game doesn't justify paying him more than 7-8m per. I just think the 10m is an asking price to leave room for negotiation. I'd be reluctant to give him anything north of 7.5 quite honestly.

That's pushing it. He has an argument that he's a good enough player for a team to lose Deng and still be good, but Deng is putting up 3.5 more points a game and has a better PER.

Sounds about right for a starting point on his end. There's someone out there who will offer him more than 8, I expect the Bulls and him to settle at around 8.

I like Jimmy and think hes very good but he's yet to put together a full year of high level play. To ask for 10 mill a year is crazy. Lance Stephenson is better and younger and will make that type of money.

True but Jimmy may be a better defender, is much younger, and the difference in PER you're referencing isn't a huge one.

I expect Jimmy to settle for less but $10m is about where I'd expect his camp to start off. I think they meet at around $8m.

That's a good asking price.

1) He plays 40+ mpg, and does it well.

2) No doubt about it: top-3 defensive wing in the NBA. Nobody plays Lebron, Melo and Wade as well.

3) He's improved a lot, he's young, and he's still got room for better shooting and scoring.

If both sides can agree to $8.5-10m per year, that's good in my book. It's what Deng SHOULD'VE been signed to for all these years.

The $5-6m hopefuls were kinda ridiculous... I mean, that kind of money goes to JJ Redick, Korver, Chase Budinger... 20-25 mpg specialists.

If I have to pick 3 guys most important to this #4 seeded team this year: #1 Noah #2 Jimmy #3 DJ

Jimmy does it all! You lose a LOT of toughness with him off the court...

$10m's what he's looking for.. I hope/expect he settles little lower, and basically he gets the same deal as Taj. That'd be fair for both sides.

Post all-star, Butler has been a better player, but not $10 million/per better. He's a very good defender on the perimeter, but his overall production just isn't grazing that tier. It would be like paying Tony Allen or Jared Dudley that type of money. He's a player you like to have, but evenwith the cap going up, it makes building a championship team that much tougher. That's one of the challenges, paying your role players like role players.

I still haveh im at $5-6 million. I doubt he'll sign for that amount, but that's the kind of player he looks like.

Im on board with the guys saying this is an april fools joke. Would jimmy command 10 mil on the open market ? no. Case closed.

That's the kind of player Jimmy is IMHO. Has one strong specialty and has a few perks that can add icing to your team cake. But not a core piece that is heavily relied upon.
