Simmons: Reinsdorf Runs Bulls Like Small Market Team

Chicago Bulls: For Taj Gibson, no. 16, no. 19 and the rights to Nikola Mirotic. Not sure that’s enough for ’Sota. Also: That trade chews up the Bulls’ cap space, and, by proxy, their July chances for Carmelo. I can’t get a feel for the Bulls — I mean, that’s the same team that gave Luol Deng away in January, then claimed publicly that they weren’t quitting on the season. Huh???? It’s also the same team that plays in the third-biggest TV market in America and could sell for $2 billion tomorrow (not a misprint), only they operate their business like they’re stuck playing in Indiana or Milwaukee. Keep getting dem checks, Jerry.

Thats because you are a Lakers fan. Round here, lots of people in media take this line of criticism. Whether or not it is warranted

This guy sure is making a lot of page hits on talking about the Bulls. I'm sure he won't stop anytime soon.
His 'Jerry is a miser' stuff feeds right into his "Thibs is unhappy about cheap ownership, so he's going to get traded" stuff and other over arching conspiracies he builds.

It has occurred to me that other teams are putting stuff out there just try to slow the bulls momentum. It's pretty well-known that the bulls have big plans this summer. Of course the media is more than happy to go along with it because the report anything that will get them hits.

Yeah. I can't believe he said those things about Doc, when Doc was there way before Boston became a contender. It was all mutual that everyone went on their separate ways. It was a classy exit from all sides, and everything ended on a good note if you asked me.

In fairness
I think the worst would have been the bulls finding themselves with a 100 million dollar team salary for a squad that can't get to the finals. It's quite clear Jerry wants that big splash. He knows what titles look like and he knows overpaying for guys like ben Gordon and loul deng ain't the way to get them. I'm willing to wait and see what he does now that he finally has a chance to add a true star in melo or love. It would really show home run if Jerry pushed hard to land both of them. In that scenario Simmons is wrong because the bulls would have to go after melo first based on the cap. Then they can pursue a trade for love who he insist will get traded before the draft but likely he won't be. I can see a trade for love happening in October after minny exhaust all they options
Now if Jerry don't want to pay for melo and love then we can clown him. But as if right now a championship team we have not had and Jerry shouldn't be paying for it. Why would Jerry go deep into the tax to retain Ronnie brewer asik Korver and bogans? Deng? These guys are not good enough for a championship team and as been proven thibs can
Just make another one for cheaper.

I am saddened to realize that ever since the dynasty years the Bulls did not make a player personal move that put us any closer to a title.
Although there are a lot of things we are not privy to, I'll only blame Jerry Reindsorf for perpetuating incompetent GMs.

I am excited to hear Simmons thoughts on money management of big market teams like the Nets and the Knicks.

That is a fair comment. A good one. The Bulls are superior in that respect. At the same time, I am not sure about the win first then pay approach either. Some kind of compromise has to be made, otherwise you are not making things happen. You are waiting for things to happen like kismet. No, I think you might also have to be willing to make a trade that projects you over the cap, or even way over and into the lux tax before you actually win first in a big market where your profit and support is built in no matter what. Or, instead you can keep dumping salary overboard year after year and hope Jordan Grant Oakley and Pippen are going to fall from the sky into your lap.

While I think Simmons seems to be a big time D-bag, he sits on the panel of one of the main NBA shows on a national channel. A lot of people only watch at this time of the year or they might read his blogs because of the humor. But, he keeps fueling the perception or whatever thoughts he has.
Maybe he has an agenda or something bad has happened between him/Bulls but we have no idea. But, there was Woj before and now Simmons, Barkley all putting out dirt on the Bulls.
I think it might matter to some NBA people. But, there is nothing Reinsdorf can do right now but to take the hit from the Deng move even if it was the right one. I don't think Reinsdorf is cheap but they have done a lot of financial moves which makes it easy to perceive them as cheap.
You can also bet that Simmons or someone will be praising the Bulls financial management if they pull of signing a Melo or Love(or both) and some good pieces around them.
Look at the Lakers now. They have screwed up their reputation in the FO enough with all kinds of dumb things making Dwight leave and I doubt Melo or Love want to go there even if they had a top 3 pick to sell. They are relying on the sunny weather/hollywood reputation right now.

Well....we do run our team like we are the Bucks. Reinsdorf is somewhere laughing his butt off collecting all his money.
