Haven't read through the thread, but Noah and Gibson are expected to be at the sales pitch tomorrow for Melo, according to ESPN radio.

So much for trading Taj for space now.

Huge news. Taj is staying. I always knew it.

So this means Garpax think they have a realistic path to get Melo and keep Taj. Good.

That doesn't mean that taj can't and won't be traded. LoL.

I never thought Taj would get salary-dumped, and I never thought Melo would want to be on a team with a gaping hole at PF.

IF Melo agrees to come to Chicago, I think he's agreeing to take a pay cut.

How big of a pay cut is the question.

Thats awkward. there is no way we get Melo without a sign and trade and Taj has to go out in that situation. Like he has to. No way we can afford Noah, Derrick and Taj and then get Melo. Not a chance.

Im sure they want to keep both but realistically Taj is the only good piece we will maybe trade for melo. Outside of maybe Jimmy. And Dunleavy was a given.

Rose basically ceding the leadership role for this team to Noah, weird. You'd think he'd want to step up and be a rep for his team but nope

There has been no indication that Taj is outgoing.

They essentially told him he was going to be the starter next season, and now they've signed off on him recruiting.

The chances of him getting dealt appear to be slim-to-none.

Yes, it's the same path that many have mentioned on this board. Boozer, Dun Dun, ungurauntee contracts and draft picks and maybe even Snell.

Seriously though it means Melo must be in on Taj staying, or were announcing to him that Taj is staying, which means Melo must be the one to exert massive leverage (with little real oomph behind it) against NY to get them to deal.

As now with Randolph's contract, we are hard pressed to clear respectable space for Melo without using Taj.

Recruiting makes you a leader? I think people are reading far too much into this. Melo more than likely already has his mind made up as to what he wants to do.

Amnesty Boozer, then S&T Dunleavy, Randolph and the non-guaranteed deals for Carmleo, Carmelo also gets a starting salary of $20mm in that scenario

We can if Melo agrees to a pay cut.

Is our pitch to Melo that Taj showing up means he has to take 14m/YR if NY calls our bluff?

Is getting Melo even a serious thing for us, or just some kind of hail mary instigated by Noah.

Melo is looking at leaving 60 or 70m on the table here.

Rose is really looking like a diva ...
