OT: RealGM History!

Post#1 » by Michael Jackson » Wed Jul 9, 2014 12:51 am

Something besides the Melo watch.

Realgm history. Not just the Bulls board but all that we can remember. Our favorite bannings! Best drama! What ever happened to Carlos? He was a founder of the site and a bulls fan. He had to move back to his country but did we ever hear from him? Where is Errisal? What happened to FleetMacBull. Who was GarPaxDorf two years ago.

The infamous Prerak

The OOTB what was it? Let's discuss. Old, young and middle age!

Hopefully this doesn't rustle feathers, but I've always wondered what happened to tb#1.

Also another post surely to rustle feathers, but really not intended to. I was going to start a thread asking this but this might be a better spot.

Let's be honest, realgm is a business. Page hits are money. What responsibility falls on mods to help the business side of realgm to succeed?

Basically nearly every mod here is optimistic. Seems like once a month there is a thread by a mod saying things aren't that bad. This could be just being a fan of the game, or allowing a positive atmosphere, which keeps the page hits coming so to speak. I've always dealt like higher ups would always try to push the positive aspects of the bulls while largely ignoring the negatives.

Please don't ban me. Please be honest.

There is literally no mandate on us being positive or keeping page hits up. When we are modded all we get is the responsibility of keeping the forums in order.

Yes and that discussion isn't for here. Mods have a thankless job. Why most retire.

It cool.

I think TB#1 was Tom Boerwinkle from sportstalk. He went over to bbb.net. Not exactly sure what happened.

Yessss! What a nice distraction from Melo.

And timely, too. I ended up just now going on some archive adventure learning about a mythical prerak. Older posters around here have really interesting stuff to talk about in regards to RealGM drama and it's surprisingly interesting. There's something captivating about how strangers on the internet can establish relationships with each other, and with good comes bad, so it seems like there have been some..tiffs, of relatively large scale. Awesome stuff. I know as the years go by and I stay on the board (which I definitely will), I'll tell the tale of The Demise of Boogeydown.

Anybody have any really interesting stories?

Anybody know what happened to Biggie Smalls? He was really active during the 12-13 season and I haven't seen him since.

Ditto. The posters at this other forum were comeee idiots and the trolling got a bit out of hand as well. I've been thoroughly impressed with realgm, bulls forum in particular.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

While not likely, the sad reality is that many posters could pass away and no one on the board would ever know. That is quite possible. Sad to think about really.

Back to the topic, I started lurking Realgm around the time we won the Rose lottery. Grew up a Bulls fan due to the Jordan effect and followed them religiously as a young lad during the dark days. I'm a glutton for punishment you could say. I remember being excited over Ron Mercer lol. During those years I read the ESPN message boards every single day back on 56k haha. I took any "rumor" on those boards to heart as a youngster. Good times for sure. Finding out news and rumors was much more exciting back then. I miss those days!

Love Realgm though.

If you actually go through the mods, they are negative about stuff. I used to be a mod and always called Reinsdorf cheap. Rerisen complains about offense. Fleet is championship or bust. etc. The mods just don't fly off the handle much, which is why they are mods.

Realgm.com puts no pressure on the mods to take any position. None. Its actually far more hands off than people would think. You might be surprised to find out that the realgm staff actually rarely even reads the boards.

Anyone remember Shinky? I wonder what happened to him.

Alright, now I'm warming up - remember when J Crawford's sister used to post here? At least I think it was here; if not, forgive the senior moment...
