Next Bull's Jersey to be retired

Found this article interesting. They suggest Noah may be on track to have his number retired.

Noah’s accomplishments are already beginning to rival those of Sloan and Love. By the time Noah’s contract expires in two years it’s reasonable to project that he will rank top-10 in rebounds, blocks, assists, steals, and win-shares for the Bulls. His rankings statistically alone would make him a viable candidate, but like Sloan and Love, Joakim Noah has been the heart and soul of this current Chicago Bulls era.

Bulls seems to be pretty strict with their requirements. Any other recent Bulls you think may get it? Deng and Hinrich come to mind, but I don't see it.

I think Hinrich is a possibility to get his jersey retired - I'm 100% it will get retired if the Bulls somehow win a Championship in the next few years while Kirk is still with the Bulls.

The next in line would definitely have to be Noah if he continues to stay healthy and play at a high level. I think if he signs another extension with the Bulls and actually stays with the team throughout the contract period, I'm going to go as far to say that it will be a lock that he'll have his jersey retired even if he ends up being traded at 35 or whenever his next contract will be up.

Kirk is bigger than jersey retirements. Prepare for the new practice facility to be named the Hinrich Center so that all future players will be motivated to rise Kirk's level of grit.

Feels like a lot of other teams don't have as high standards for retiring one's number. Haslem will probably get his number retired by the Heat. I know he's a long time Heat, won 3 rings, and will likely retire there, but the guy never averaged more than 12 points per game, never more than 9.1 rebounds, never made an all NBA team, allstar team, or an all NBA defensive team.

If Hinrich won a ring or two he'd probably get that treatment.

Deng's name is all over Bulls all time leaderboards. 4th in points, 6th in games, 4th in minutes, 5th in field goals, 7th in 3s, 9th in rebounds, 5th in steals, etc. If he retired and/or won a ring here I'd see that happening, but he didn't, so probably not.

But yeah, Noah with a few more good years probably has it in the bag, especially if he spends the rest of his career here.
Rose, if he gets healthy and plays 5-6+ more years for us. He's a former MVP.

Yeah, I totally understand where you're coming from but it could be a case of a life time achievement type of situation for his long tenure with the Bulls, and basically being the rock of the franchise for as long as he has. And sure, he may not have had the individual accolades under his belt, but him being on the team was basically the first stepping stone in which the Bulls finally recovered from the post Jordan era. Now I'm not saying he was the ONLY reason, but he was that first piece, and his grind-it-out attitude was basically the attitude and form of most of the Bulls team from there on-wards.

But yeah, not sure if he will get his jersey retired, and as much of a fan of his, it wouldn't bug me so much if they didn't either. I actually like the fact that the Bulls franchise is overly picky up the jerseys they retire, unlike some of the other franchises.

Career minutes: 6th

3 points made: 1st, by a significant margin

Assists: 4th, 72 assists away from Norm Van Lier for 3rd

Steals: 3rd

Total points: 9th, 252 points away from Reggie Theus for 8th

As I said, I'm not going to be entirely bothered or stunned if the Bulls franchise decides not to retire his jersey, but lets not act like he is some scrub that hasn't achieved anything of significance either.

Dan Majerle, Avery Johnson, Sean Elliot, Jeff Hornacek all got their numbers retired. I put Noah in that tier of players. He will get his number retired, guaranteed. I'm not saying it's a travesty if he doesn't, but you just know they will.

Kirk was pretty much the pioneer of the Bulls' turnaround along with Skiles. He also personified the essence of what Thee Chicago Bull was in the Paxson Era and was adored by the United Center crowd from Day 1 for that, and every player that came along and showed that same personification (e.g. Noc, Jo, Jimmy, Nate) received the same adoration. It also doesn't hurt that he was occasionally regarded as the second coming of The Original Bull, Jerry Sloan.

If you want numbers, kulaz3000 just provided them. Most three-pointers made is a pretty significant stat.

im pretty picky on jersey retirement myself...its one of the biggest honors you can get so i think you have to be a special player to deserve such a thing

im even iffy on Noah...really Rose is the only player i see "special" in (or atleast i did we'll see if he can get his career back on track) but i gotta admit Noahs resume is pretty good

I feel like Kirk gets a little too much credit for that turnaround. We got worse in his first year here and in his second year when we actually improved, we had added multiple other important players such as Deng, BG, and Noc, plus Tyson finally stepped up IIRC.
