coming home

Post#1 » by Bully6789 » Wed Sep 17, 2014 3:22 pm

Now that Bron has went back to Cleveland it might start something that will impact several teams in the future. I can see Chicago having a huge benefit from such a move by Bron. Can the Bulls fans see Anthony Davis in the 2018 season and Jabari Parker with the Bulls with the 19-20 season. I can dream about this line up of Rose, Butle,Parke,r Davis and Noah, with McDermott Snell Mirotic and Gibson as reserves. I believe that if KD decides to go to DC and play for the wiz that might be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Its always been said that playing in ones home town was not good well in the next couple of years will decide if that remains.

While I do think it has helped, remember money is always a factor. If rose is still elite then you have 3 max contracts with butler/mc3/Niko all getting paid.

Also, by 2020 I expect Noah to be a shell of his current self especially since his game relies on hustle and effort. He would be a 6th man I think with AD as center

Dreaming it would be rose/butler/mc3/niko/AD

With pg/snell/parker/taj/Noah off the bench (Starting SF would be debatable)

I hope that Davis and Parker stay in New Orleans and Milwaukee and turn those franchises into perennial contenders. The league needs home-grown stars to stay with teams and not leave when their rookie deals expire. As much as I want the Bulls to succeed, I think the long-term health of the league depends on small market teams staying relevant. Enough of this AAU Super Team crap. Milwaukee needs a viable team and not act as a minor league system for the Bulls.
Honesty is my only excuse.

This plus how about players reaching their full potential. Guys like Bosh, Kyrie might never reach their full potential in their careers. Off-course, Bosh got rings and Kyrie might get one. But, in reality, they mostly would have got them because of LeBron. How about failing/learning/developing new things in their game after a failed playoff series as a #1 option?

Off-course, everybody cannot be a #1 option and most of them are #2 or #3 options but you never know. I think the players are kind of cheating themselves in a way. It is like a smart person not starting his/her own company but working for a big company where he/she gets lost or doesn't have the same impact. There is nothing wrong in going to a super team but when they are 60 years old, will they feel they reached their full potential as a basketball player?

players don't usually leave after their rookie deal and if they do its because the team didn't want to pay them what they want

most come to agreement with the team that drafted them then after that deal is up they possibly look elsewhere

If the premise of your post is that players will return to their hometowns then why does our team still have Noah, Gibson, Butler and Snell on it?

I will make a note that my cousins bf/the father of her kid (has been in the Chicago system for life, grew up playing on a top team from the westside in the mid to 90s during the Q-Rich etc era, played in college, got into the coaching and developmental side, still talks to multiple GMs, and has helped work out current NBA guys) said that having worked hands on with some of these kids like Jabari, Okafor and the like (not sure about AD but prob)... that they are part of the new breed thanks to guys like Rose that will actually value coming to play at home over money. We saw it when Jabari said he woulda wanted to be drafted by the Bulls. But anyway, coming from someone that knows these kids as they have grown up around him over the last 5-6 years (they start recruiting them very early, see Depaul scandal haha) it makes me excited to think of the prospect of a team like this...

Okafor
AD
Jabari
Rose
(any other Chicagoan)

could be very real by 2020...

I understand your point of view it makes the league stronger but I care less about making the league stronger. The league wont die if the Bulls have Parker or Davis with the Bulls what it will do is make the Bulls a championship tean yearly. I dont know any Bull fans that give a rats azz about Milwaukee or New Orleans being a contender. Smaller market teams don't care about big market teams everybody is out for them selves. Sports has no friends either you win or you lose and the size of your city means nothing. You have these small market teans getting the same amount of TV revenue. They should make it where their players want to stay otherwise as a Bulls fan I don't think small market teams give one thought about big market teams

I like the point of view of the players allowing themselves to work through to their fullest potential, but if a player's going to leave their team for another, I sure do hope it's the Bulls, so I think that the whole "coming home" narrative is in our best (albeit selfish) interest.

I understand your thinking but outsiders people not from Chicago would never understand tge lure of what it means to be from Chicago and wanting to play for the Bulls. Chicago basketball and the desire for the best to want to play in Chicago starts with biddy ball. The way these kids are treated by Chicago fans nobody understands why they want to come home to Chicago. But being from Chicago we know

Forget all that. If we want to get in the Boston/LA realm of rings, we're going to need homegrown talents like AD & Jabari to follow suit after that first big contract and come home.

I think we can get atleast 2 without them in Pau's era. After that. We gotta start the movement. We're never going to be the #1 attraction for a superstar not born in Illinois. This is our path, IMO.

GOOD thread BTW KD to the WIZ is a scary sight.

Evil you know they can sign a 2 yr deal with option out yr and sign a max deal. So I understand your point about home grown players. But once the Bulls start on that title run they will those not from Illinois will be whining to play for the Bullies

If all these kids cared so much about playing in Chicago as your so-called cousins boyfriend who talks to GM's says, then why haven't any of these guys stayed home to play college ball. Next time your cousins boyfriend talks to the guys in the white lab coats, make sure he understands the landscape of Chicago basketball.

I dont know about needs of the league, but from an individual standpoint, how sad is it that such a talent like Anthony Davis is stuck with an incompetent team like New Orleans? Or other guys, like Demarcus Cousins, who are in a way forced by the league rules to accept extension as its more lucrative for them, and to stay with another incompetent franchise?
I know league favors talent being spread somehow evenly, and its favoring teams to sing extension with teams that drafted them, but thats a pain in the butt when you are drafted by a bad team with bad management.

And on the other hand, was it bad for league for Shaq to leave Orlando to join a team that made a league so much more enjoyable and in a way, famous?

As I said, I dont know whats best for the league, but I have a bad taste in my mouth watching great talents being wasted by ***** teams.
