Does E'twaun Moore have a future with the Bulls?
It hasn't been brought up much in light around recent discussions that the Bulls are starting to mesh some and build confidence/chemistry. We are nearing the halfway point in 3/4 weeks and the prevailing thought is to build a consistent starting 5 and develop cohesion on the bench (All the while avoiding the dreaded injury bug).
E'twan has shown some level-headed play in his relatively tiny sample size. My question to the board is this:
Does he have a chance to crack the top 8-9 and develop into the combo guard role Kirk currently occupies? I think at a minimum late this season we should give him more of Kirk's minutes to spell DRose and play the 2 on occasion (I am making this bold assumption on the fact I think Aaron Brooks is as good as gone in FA). Kirk's 2015/16 salary is a player option. Thoughts

Not because he isn't good enough, but some team will offer him a bigger contract than our cap situation would allow with Jimmy getting paid.
Bulls are a launching pad/stepping stone for journey players.

I would be too happy if Moore could take over Kirks spot, b/c Kirk is so inconsistent, for every good game he has, he stinks up another at least 3 or 4 games if we are lucky. And his defense is not as good as it used to be anymore.

Re: Does E'twan Moore have a future with the Bulls?
I would hope so, considering the fact that the Kirk lovers can't use the "he's a midget" excuse as a con to keeping him like they could with DJ and Nate. Even Stevie Wonder can see that Moore deserves all of Kirk's minutes now.
As far as not being able to retain Moore due to him potentially playing out of our price range, why don't we just incentive the **** out of his deal like we did with Kirk's? In what universe does Kirk Hinrich deserve a no trade clause?

I started this thread thinking that Moore could develop into Kirk lite sans 2005-07 where he played hard gritty D and was effecient on O. They have the same body type for a smallish combo guard. Just my humble 2 cents.

Glad to have Moore. I didn't really know much about him until this season.

I haven't seen enough of him to say he can replace hinrich.
But I definitely want him to stay longterm.
If he can develop a pesky defense and shoot threes at a respectable rate, he'll get hinrich's minutes

Re: Does E'twan Moore have a future with the Bulls?
Maybe being close to home gives the Bulls a fighting chance to keep him? I know if Brooks continues to play well, the Bulls have no chance at keeping, but maybe the Bulls can keep Moore a reasonable deal.

according to hoopshype the bulls have a team option for next year, so I'd say he stays for another year if he keeps playing and establishing himself a bit more.

I do think he can be a Kirk replacement.
I also think we will retain Kirk on top of keeping Moore. But ETwaun will play more next season.

For love, not money.

OP you do know he can be signed for next year at the same price because we gave him a 2 year contract.

Re: Does E'twan Moore have a future with the Bulls?
Why Kirk plays so much is beyond any rational explanation, so it doesn't matter how good Moore is.
A buddy of mine who works contractually w/ the Bulls said he's a favorite of the Reinsdorfs so he'll play until he retires.

I hate to bag on Captain Kirk, but I think we should give him one month off so that we can evaluate the Moore Project.

Plus he actually plays pretty solid defense. So there's really no huge advantage Kirk has over him. Obviously we need to see if he can continue giving us positive production, but I like what I see so far. Something about his handle still rubs me the wrong way, but now I'm nitpicking.

Hold up..... Heinrich has a player option in his contract? So u telling me he will be brought back again? And brooks is gone. Well this mediocre crap will live on at the point guard position. I like etwaun Moore but hes not the high volume scorer brooks is. Neither is kirk. When does this front office take a dare and find another combo guard besides kirk. I was hoping Heinrich retires after this season. All teams need that microwave scorer off the bench. I hope this is hinrich last season here. He's highly overrated. Etwaun is better right now then he is. You already know thibs will go with kirk over etwaun if brooks is gone. If it wasn't for brooks we would have a much worse record. Heinrich doesn't contribute to wins. Chi has been nice enough to him. The longer he stays the more y'all ppl get adjusted to his weak play.

It's not guaranteed Kirk comes back it's up to him not the FO. It's still too early to really defend Etwaun being better I mean the guy just started getting PT so lets hold that judgement until he shows consistency. No if it wasn't for Jimmy and Pau for the most part we would have a worse record. I love Brooks but his success is half of what he can do and half of how our system is. We've seen this for 4 straight years.

We can only hope Kirk decide not to use next year option and in same time FO's give him a job in Bulls organization. He is already more of a assistant coach than he is a player.

It's spelled Hinrich.

Oh wait, you knew that.

Oh, you're just kind of forgetful...happens to me a lot these days too.
As for Moore, you've gotta give him credit as a 55th overall pick to still be in the league 3 years later. However, at this point, I'm not sure how anyone can be certain that Moore is a keeper. His body of work to date has "replacement-level player" written all over it and he's only played a handful of meaningful minutes this season. He seems to be OK at a lot of things, but not exceptional at anything. Since the Bulls have him signed (unguaranteed) through next season, let's hope he's a late bloomer.
Until the actual truth is more important to you than what you believe, you will never recognize the truth.

When I saw he had the option and not the FO I was like WTF? But it is what it is I guess. If he can be persuaded to retire and serve a more useful role in the FO then I''m quite sure most of us would be down for that.
