Just Curious: What do you think it would take for Thibs to be fired?

He's highly regarded by most fans and media and was even endorsed by President Obama last month.
That said, he has faults and the team is underachieving this season. What's your general sense of his job security?

He's considered one of the top coaches in the league and he's under a really good contract. Only way I see something happening is if the team decides to part ways with each other because he doesn't get along with the front office.

I disagree that the team is underachieving. I'd say that based on what Rose and Noah have looked like, plus our myriad of other injuries, we're doing as well as can reasonably be expected. Thibs gives you magic by overachieving every single year, then he's expected to do it every year or he's fired? It's unreasonable. We brought in not a few, but 7 new players (if you include Rose). We have had injuries to all but 2 rotation players.
His job security should be at least a season and a half of floundering. He's currently at 0.

Reminder that the Bulls fired his top assistant a year ago out of spite. They have a personal trainer from California making playing time decisions. The organization has made it difficult for him to do the best job possible.

He has been the most consistently good thing about this franchise since he has been here. Yeah, lets get rid of him because of a losing slump.

Did I say that he didn't have any flaws? And while we're at it, name me all the coaches in the league without some flaws? Heck, in all history of NBA coaches to make it easier for you.
And when people talk about firing a coach, it should be followed by a coach you'd think would be a good replacement who is currently available.

He'd have to piss off the FO to get fired.
Only coaches I think are better than Thibodeau are Pop and Carlisle. Thibodeau should be locked up for awhile, because you're not going to find a better coach to replace him.

I dont think any of the choices can be a reason for him to get fired so i didnt vote.
The only way i can imagine is if Rose gets a major injury again, Butler walks out, and the Core gets old without getting a title.
Its basically rebuild mode and its the worst case scenario.

Gotta love overreactions, eh? Thibs ain't going anywhere he's a top 5, possibly top 3 coach in the league.

They would have to turn into the Chicago Bears. Despite his flaws, I think Tom is here as long as he wants to be here. He's still an excellent coach, but I'm starting to wonder if the league is starting to pass him by. He has a very dogmatic approach and while it's good to stick to what you know and what has made you successful, you still have to adapt and evolve. I'm not certain he has that ability and wouldn't be surprised if he ends up having a coaching career similar to his mentor JVG.

Gar/Pax have to go before Thibs goes. Thibs has proven he can get the most out of his players time and time again and All-star after AllStar under him. If he can't win a title, it's the front offices fault for not giving him enough talent to do it.
He turns role players into stars, gets as far as he can with the talent given, what more can you ask for from a coach.

I love ya' guys, but this board is about as unreasonable and unforgiving as a grumpy mother-in-law when it comes to Thibs. It's reached plainly ridiculous levels.

A team that has to play 71 minutes of Hinrich, Brooks, and Snell is not going to be that great.
Certainly without an MVP Rose or DPOY Noah.
And if we reduced Butler's ridiculous 43 minutes, those thoroughly mediocre players would have had to play even more.
Are people looking at what we have to put out there? With Butler's recent fall-off the last 2 weeks, we don't have a single superstar talent on the floor.
Pau plays like an All-Star more than not, probably 60% of the time so far, but he's old, and the other 40% of the time he just plays 'ok' if not even rather lazy.
Teams without superstars generally aren't contenders. If you are going to be a team like ATL (and Teague is playing close to a superstar anyway) you will see they are not playing 71 minutes of subpar players, neither are the Spurs.

See, this is where my problem with the Hinrich signing enters. That money could have been spent on someone younger, with a more diverse scoring game, who could have eaten 20 minutes a night. I mean, it's not like Kirk is the same defensive dynamo he once was. He plays hard, which is commendable, but it's not effective.

if he gets fired its not because thibs isn't a very good coach its because the players have stopped buying into his system and him in general...the past 2 or 3 years our teams played with chips on their shoulders now not so much....thibs can make a average team good but can he make a good team great?...do we even have the pieces to be a great team?

Not possible this season IMO. If the players start tuning him out next season, it may happen.
