Rose Is Pissed.

Post#1 » by DuckIII » Tue Jan 20, 2015 4:49 pm

I went a few pages back into the PG thread and didn't see this, so sorry if this discussion already happened:

"Everybody has to be on the same page," Rose said. "Until then, we're going to continue to get our ass kicked."

Asked who was not on the same page, Rose was quick with a response.

"It's just the whole team," he said.

[ ]

"I think communication is huge," Rose said. "We're quiet when we're out there, and it's leading to them getting easy baskets. We got to give a better effort. It seems like we're not even competing, and it's f---ing irritating."

Rose didn't buy the notion that because the Bulls have new pieces, notably Pau Gasol, Nikola Mirotic and Aaron Brooks, and continue to play through injuries, those issues explain why his team continues to falter after a stretch last month in which it won 13 of 15 games.

"We're midway through the season," Rose said. "That should be a part of [the discussion]. There's no excuses. My biggest thing is competing. Playing this game for so long, when you don't have that edge, we're going to keep getting our ass whupped."

Physician, heal thyself. Hopefully all of these comments from Rose, Gasol, Thibs, etc., signal the breaking point for this apathy. I'm glad they are mad. They should be mad. At each other, and more importantly their own selves.

And I hope that Rose still has the type of credibility with his teammates that he needs for these words to work a positive, rather than a negative. When a primary culprit calls out the effort, it could be more divisive than productive. Granted, his statement that "It's the whole team" is better than saying "the guys need to play harder" of course, but I'm not sure that nicety will cut it.

Its a catch-22. I'm glad Rose is speaking up and showing some fire, on the one hand. On the other, there's an eye rolling aspect to it as well.

Yea I'm hoping no one on the team "goes there" and mentions the fact he's been in suits the past 2 years while they were playing. Hopefully they are cool enough where they take his message as motivation and don't start looking at him sideways. But like you said, there is definitely some eye roll material for someone who wants to take it there.

Pot: Hey Kettle, you're black.

Kettle: Man please....its MLK day. Gimme a break.

players deal with injuries, they will not go there because there is no where to go, is Derrick fault that he had those injuries? i mean what the **** are talking about

When is Bulls GM Reggie Rose going to have Thibs replaced by Fred Hoiberg? His bro needs to coast until the playoffs.

There's definitely an eye rolling aspect, but I am glad that he's showing frustration. All I wonder is why he doesn't show it much on the court, it just seems like he's just chilling out there for parts of the game until he decides to get aggressive for short spurts. I just don't see the passion that was once there for a lot of these players. We need a healthy Noah and a vocal Rose to lead the way vocally and from an on-court perspective, otherwise we're screwed.

It's already been stated there are two different sides currently in the locker room, those in the circle and those who aren't exactly eye to eye with Thibs, and that's including Rose. So those in the circle might feel its hypocritical when looking at the hard work they've been putting in compared to Rose who has himself been slacking at certain points this year. And then there's the fact just a few years ago his camp alluded that they didn't see the point in him playing with bad teammates.

LOTS of things can be said if teammates wanted to go there

Glad he is, this is just unacceptable right now. Maybe better coming from the leader of the team than anyone else.

I wasn't really referring to the injuries in the original post. I was referring more to his on-court play this season and some of the comments made when he sat out games. And I'm going to pretend his playing decisions in the past don't matter at all so that we don't rehash that again in this thread.

It doesn't need to be verbalized to be divisive. Right message, wrong source can simply make the hearer not take it as seriously as he or she should.

I'm not saying Rose is the wrong source. I have no idea. I hope he's the right source. And he certainly can be if he goes out and puts his effort where his mouth is. Its lead by example time.

This. They all need to shut up and play harder. If they quit on Thibs because he's "too hard" on them, they deserve the bad karma that will follow.

Is there any quotes from Thibs where he himself (thibs) needs to do a better job also, because it sure be nice if he did take some blame and say he needs to make some changes

Its one thing "showing fire" to the reporters but to show that same fire to his teammates is another. Now, I don't know what goes on behind the locker room but during the games I don't see Rose showing that aggression during games.

Interesting he's saying this after he's finally had a small run of good 3pt shooting games.

Even though he's stubborn as a rock, one decent value to him is that he always takes his fair share of blame and doesn't just throw dudes under the bus. Remember, he could have obliterated Boozer in the media plenty of times, but kept it under the "we are one" theme.

Though Thibs problem is that he doesn't exactly adjust unless under extreme conditions, like injury.

I couldnt agree more.

Its one thing tuning out Skiles. Or running Vinny outta town. But its an entirely different thing if we are talking about Thibs being marginalized.

I would not be surprised if Ron Adams (yeah the Team Rose guy from last season who got fired) comes back to Chicago to coach if Thibs is let go.

That would tell us everything we know. Most importantly that the FO is weak sauce.

+Whatever everyone else on this thread said. I saw him play the 4th quarter against the Rockets with intensity, he even got in a defensive stance and everything. Do that for a couple games and they might follow. While Derrick has been much better of late, he pretty much killed any ball movement for a while with his lazy chucking. Again, glad he's been distributing better of late but Derrick is as responsible as anyone on the team for the effort not being there.

Rose should keep quiet publicly until he puts some effort into his defense. For most of the last three weeks he has been demonstrating poor effort until the 4th quarter. His defensive effort and constant 3 pt shooting is turning him into a solid middle of the road PG. Take more games off if you have to do but at least put in the effort when you are on the court. He should be embarrassed by his lack of effort.
