“It felt weird, really strange,” Deng said after the game. “Something that I didn’t think would happen. I thought I would play here for my entire career, but it didn’t work out that way. Just definitely strange. A lot of emotion and I’m glad it’s over. For me it was a tough game.”

During a timeout break in the first quarter, the Bulls played a tribute video and Deng received a standing ovation from the United Center crowd.

I would really like to have him back. Really wish we could trade Gibson for him.

Lu is a professional so i get why he didnt watch the video, but this is the only time in your life that an NBA team you played 9 seasons for is going to do that for you, should have at least acknowledged the fans ovation ala Rondo a few weeks ago.

When did they play Rondo's video?

Does it seem odd to anyone to play the video after the game has already started? Its almost like gamesmanship. I don't know, its not a big deal. I just remember thinking the timing was strange when I was watching the game.

Deng said he didn't want to watch the tribute because he knew he'd get emotional if he watched it. Him not openly acknowledging it during the game was his attempt to stifle his emotions and keep his focus on the game for his team.

That is why I thought the timing was odd. Seems like the type of thing you'd do before tip-off or at the half or something. Not during a commercial break during the first quarter of the game. At that point, players are in the middle of doing their job.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. Perhaps they thought that's the best time to squarely focus on Deng and that the majority of patrons are in their seats so he can get the loudest ovation... before tip-off the stadium is still filling up and everyone is going to bathrooms/concessions at halftime.

Is it me or does his face look like it has aged 10 years in the last 2.

Wish we had the money to have him at SF on this squad with Mike D off the bench.

One facet of our D that we miss is Deng dropping down and helping on the weakside, plus weakside rebounding from his SF position.

I don't know if Deng is a good fit on this team. The biggest complaint we had with Deng was his ball handling and second was his 3pt shooting. He improved on his 3 pt shooting but I doubt teams would respect him like a MDJ. Jimmy provides the secondary ball handling expected from Deng.

I agree though his team defense and rebounding can get undervalued. He could be like the 6th man if he could accept it.

Ideally, if he can come back for MLE next year and McDermott, MDJ, Deng, Jimmy and another vet min like Randy Foye can be the wings.

They didnt, dont let the partial video shots fool you, they did that on purpose

That lack of reaction to Lu sucked. 100s stood up, not much in the 200 or 300s and they cheered some but he was in the TO so they put him on the screen when hes NOT in the TO and nobody even cheered anymore, they just ignore it.

They did the same with Kurt when he was on the Wiz, I was there and he was just chilling against the announce table and gave a little wave to the crowd

Really could care less if you do not understand my post as it is simple. Why do we care about players that are no longer on the team? When Deng was here, people complained about his flaws, not that he is gone we want him back, were giving him tributes? Why? Who gives a SHYT that he is on another team? Worry about the players we have.
