Another key piece of the rotation puzzle, how can Jimmy/DRose mesh and become elite?

Much has been written and debated ad nauseum about the lack of balanced wing depth and the search for the perfect combination of our bigs. Well I was thinking and wanted to throw this out there for debate as well:
1. With DRose fully on the mend and starting to get somewhere near his 2011 form (Or close to it) what are the types of plays and sets we can employ with him and Jimmy on the court? I have seen them play together and it has been noted on a few occasions that Jimmy does not attack with DRose now being the Alpha dog. Teams pack the paint and close out driving lanes and force us to settle for shots we normally don't make. How can this improve?
2. Can both of their talents co-exist on offense and will it take more than this season for them to gel? Can the playoffs create a situation where they find their chemistry and bring up a notch to execute together on the court similar to the way the splash brothers have been doing it all season for GS?
Thoughts

We need more shooting on the floor. Volume shooting.
Both guys games are go-to the rim. It didn't work for Miami till they added shooters all around, and also, Wade learned to cut off ball. Jimmy can already do that, but one of them has to hit the outside shot at least respectably.

Rose could learn how to shoot a basketball. That would be a start.

The puzzle would be getting a good PG to pair with Butler.

I agree to a certain degree and radically suggested in the trade thread a month ago we trade DRose for Goran Dragic in a balanced package but that was just a fantasy kool aid trade when DRose was still really struggling. Not sure what can be done now.

As a non-Bulls fan that loves Thibs and most of your team, it hurts to watch Rose play basketball. He's so inefficient, it seems like he kills the offense. I know he's a Chicago icon, but it must be tough to stomach.
As a Spurs fan, we're kind of going through the same thing with Tony Parker. His season has been pretty similar to Rose's, statistically. Fortunately for the Spurs, they have alternative options at PG, while the Bulls only other options are Brooks(another chucker) and Hinrich(a decent backup PG, but should never be starting).
It's easy to blame Rose and the people in the Bulls organization that still believe he can be a superstar player, but it must be tough to alter your strategy when the alternatives are poor.

The one with the ball the majority of the time has to be willing to pass it.

We run two different offenses simultaneously. The one where Rose shoots whenever he feels like it, while swinging the ball around without a purpose. And the one where he isn't on the court and everyone, mainly Butler, touches it.
This team isn't going anywhere unless Rose starts making smarter decisions with the ball. His basketball IQ is currently at minus a trillion.

Trad Gibson for Isaiah Thomas. Bring Rose off the bench.
Thomas/Rose
Butler/Snell
Dunleavy/McD
Gasol/Mirotic
Noah/Nazr
Tell Hinrich to take the season off, and actually play the rookies. And Derrick gets to play his 1 on 5 offense he loves, against the opponents backup point guard. Win win.

jimmy would function optimally with a pass first pg like conley or teague.

I don't think they can co-exist unless Rose learns to show more like a true point guard. Right now it is Rose completely domaniting the ball most of time while Butler stands in the corner. Then Butler gets an iso or post-up opportunity once the team finally realizes he isn't getting any touches.
Rose's ideal backcourt mate would be a great catch and shoot player like Korver or Beal, but Jimmy isn't that. He is a great player though(currently better than Rose) so they need to figure it out. Just trading ISOs isn't the solution either.

Rose needs to go for this team to contend.

In my opinion, Mirotic & McDermott's development is vital for Rose & Jimmy to become an elite backcourt.
Maybe next year they can play a bigger role.

It's very simple : For Rose and Butler to coexist efficiently you need 2 solid 3pt shooters on the floor with them, so basically a stretch 4 is a must. Ideally McDermott and Miro since we already have them.

Rose and/or Jimmy have to improve their 3 point shot as well as the spacing issues discussed previously. Rose needs to get it together or we should seriously consider "Brandon Roying" him at some point. This team cant wait forever and have him take up so much of the cap.... Sorry but face the truth
