Brooks is shooting the 3 ball rather well

Anyone notice he's third in the league in percentage at .457 or something close to that?
I know all you D rose lovers are going to bash me for this, but I'd rather him get more minutes than Rose at this point. I know that won't happen... I realize Brooks is on the short side, and has some defensive short comings, but at least it's more exciting when he's out there.

I just can't stand D Rose chucking 3's anymore... I can't...

Indeed he is and its doing a large chunk in bolstering his advanced stats, everything from PER, TS%, to his high unit +/- numbers.

What happens if it doesn't continue though? Brooks is a career .376 3pt shooter, still really good, but many nights his bad defense means he is on the edge of being a troublesome player for us, with that he doesn't really look to pass much.

Rose isn't holding down his minutes really though, Thibs continues to use Brooks in lineups with both Hinrich and Rose, sometimes all 3, and Brooks gets to close a lot, maybe even more than Dunleavy when Mike was healthy.

If his 3pt shot and larger efficiency holds up, I'm sure his minutes will remain consistent, but he isn't going to start. Teams and the stellar PG crop in the league would attack him all night from the get-go. He looks to set players up even less than Derrick too, which can cause frustration if it goes too long.

I don't think it would be hard to show that Brooks has outplayed Rose all season, overall. Without looking, I bet he is the more efficient shooter, makes more assists per minute (or whatever) and makes fewer turnovers.

Baby steps. Let's let Thibs figure out that Brooks has outplayed Hinrich first (who continues to get more minutes).

I feel like Brooks gets a lot of unnecessary hate, when he basically keeps us in games most nights..

I understand your pain, watching Rose throw up 3's is painful, but Rose playing at a high level is a lot better than Brooks playing at a high level, and playoff success is contingent on Rose playing smart and playing well.

Brooks has his weaknesses, but shooting sure isn't one of them. While his selection is iffy, meaning the ones he misses can hurt us, he's the sort of player you need to give the green light to, and he's been rewarding us so far from deep. When you consider a lot of his attempts are so deep or contested, it's amazing he's shooting at the clip he has, and that he's been able to sustain that % for half a season and counting.

He's been a real positive for us. I'm actually frightened how important he is to our overall offense. If he or Mirotic don't play well, there's a good chance it's a loss for us. We shouldn't be reliant on the 13th man we signed at the end of FA for vet min to win games.

What's most impressive is that he's not just shooting assisted shots set up by someone else sucking in the defense, he's creating his own off a P&R roll or just iso.

Assisted Rate on 3Ps:
Korver : 95.9%
Matthews: 87.2%
Klay: 87.8%
Brooks: 66.7%
Curry: 54.8%

Creating that much of his 3 pointers while maintaining a league top accuracy...very impressive. And when you consider the money we pay him vs these other guys...

The sad stat is that he's finishing at the rim at basically the same rate as Rose.
Rose: 54.3%
Brooks: 52.7%

The only problem I see in Brooks is that he has the Kobe Bryant syndrome, everytime he is on the court, he forgets he has 4 teammates out there.

Every time Brooks hits a much needed 3 or makes a nice high arc off the glass drive I think to myself, damn, I wish that was Rose. Am I the only one that goes through the game like this?

Brooks is over-performing, like every player we've had in this role. He'll get his $3M PER contract somewhere else and we'll move on to the next guy.

It is bizarre that people want to fire the FO but keep the coach that thinks Kirk is better than Brooks. Obviously preferable to have someone other than Kirk, but Thibs can play Kirk very little.

Kirk fan, but I feel Thibs has lost several games forcing Kirk on a frightened populace.

That's the reason why we need a real PG as a backup. Some PG that can handle and pass the ball. Some1 similar to Jose Calderon 13-14 but not at 8M$
