Bulls checked in on T. Harris--vibe is ORL will look to move him w/ low probability he re-ups with them. Young asset(s) + pick would appeal

Wonder if they'd ask for McDermott and the Bulls pick, and what the Bulls would do.

The guy is only 22 and putting up very nice numbers. Numbers we aren't sure a prime McDermott will every hit.

But they also have to resign him. A trade going through assumes that though, I would think.

Doug makes 2.4 next year.

We're screwed.

Even if we had the assets to pull off such a deal - still not happening. Bulls don't make trades for actual on court talent, only for future flexibility and financial reasons.

Add in them having to paying for both Butler and Harris in the same offseason and there's your game, set, match.

Can Harris legit play and guard 3's? Or does he have to play a 4 to be most effective? And if so- what does that do to Niko?

This is a guy I would even re-up next season.

Whist quietly salary dumping Taj for a pick or two.

Why would they check in on Harris if there was zero interest? It might be a Taj for Harris + picks move. The Brass may deserve more credit than we give them. If they pull this off, our fortunes would improve considerably.

Its not that dire.. Harris is a flat out stud.

If we have to re-up him, we will happily salary dump Taj.

We have his rights though don't we? So it's just a matter of whether or not the team wants to pay him and Butler?

What about a salary dump trade of sorts with Taj next offseason? Get a wing and a pick and retool a bit?

Having to pay both Butler and Harris would be tough for Jerry. But this could be the kind of deal that gets us a title. I don't know if there'd be a better starting 5 in the league. If there's a Doug + future (lotto protected) pick on the table, I think you have to do it.

I can't possibly see that happening. The Bulls will have to give Butler a max deal and Harris a near max deal. JR would have a stroke.

I actually think Jerry would pay for a winner- or so he has said. Does Harris get you over the hump? Not sure he makes the Bulls defense any better.

Harris would be a hell of a get. I see him in New York next season, but can't see him wanting to leave if he lands in Chicago.

Rose, Butler, McDermott, Harris, Niko. That's a quality core to build with

I mean Jerry has said over and over again that he'd pay for a winner. Here's his chance to put up or shut up. Harris would be a great addition and could also be a long-term piece.

Don't underestimate how much an extra rebounder could help us. Having a guy that gets 7rebs a game at the 3 spot would make a big impact in itself.

That's a guy I'd move Taj for. I'd add either the Sac first and a second rounder or a Bulls first

Obviously the cost to acquire Harris is the first concern; I'd probably deal Taj (seeing as Harris makes sense at the 4 too) or McDermott and then picks to get him I just wonder if the Magic would have interest in that deal as it doesn't make a ton of sense for them.

I know the fit isn't there (Harris + Butler are very similar players in terms of where they like to score + how they like to score) but the youth makes sense and it would be VERY hard to defend a perimeter of Rose - Butler - Harris for say a team like Atlanta (Korver) or Washington (Pierce).

How much better would Jimmy Butler be if teams HAD to guard him with their two guard and teams couldn't switch a SF onto Butler (ala Cleveland)?
