Ray Allen To Make His Decision After All-Star Game (Bulls not 1 of possibilities?)

After months of considering his options, veteran Ray Allen plans to decide his NBA future after All-Star Weekend, sources told ESPN.com.

Allen, 39, still has not decided whether he wants to return for a 19th season but has been keeping in shape and doing on-court work to keep his options open. Additionally, Allen has been in contact with teams to explore his possibilities and may take meetings during the upcoming All-Star break.

Numerous teams have been staying in touch with Allen in hopes of signing him, including the Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and, recently, the Atlanta Hawks.

(so, not the Bulls?)

Hah! We are so bad that despite we have a huge hole on the wing ready to give minutes, he doesn't want to come here.

Or maybe he just loves LeBron.

Would think Thibs would have some kind of pull with him to at least get us in the convo.

of course he waited this out til after the ASG. Only 30+ games left.....

Gotta be CLE.

No way he's gonna go to like ATL or WAS or here so he can battle AGAINST LeBron.
Dude wants to go somewhere where it's understood he's a specialist in a limited role.

Warriors don't really need him....

The Clippers? 6th seed? Reunite with Doc is plausable but the Clippers to end his career?

Maybe if LAC were expected to win, but it's CLE or nothing for Ray I would think....

Rumor is, Ray called the Bulls up and asked if he could join the team and Thibbs said, "Do you mind playing only if we are down 60 with 30 seconds left, or up 50 with 20 seconds left." Ray asked if he could take 5 of Kirks minutes and the rumor is, the Bulls put a lady on the phone and she answered back..."If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again. If you need help, hang up and dial your operator."

Don't shoot the messenger. It's just what I've heard.

Ray Allen and his pending decision has been the biggest non issue all season.

He looked half cooked last season and his numbers were way down.

After missing over half of the season, whilst being 39, it's not a big deal at this point.

He's old as dirt anyway and hasn't played in a year.

His defense was already garbage last year. Good luck if they run into ATL or GSW, he might pass out on the floor.

WTH, guy above me^^^ trying to usurp my post content.

I don't really know how much this team would gain from having Ray Allen. You can't hide his bad defense on this team anymore. Our perimeter defense is causing us the most trouble right now.

He could definitely provide a spark of the bench in Cleveland. He'll be fresh only playing a 1/2 a season.

He's 39. Great move on his part. I'm not sure how his defense will be, but He can still hit that 3 ball.

Not even gonna hate on him at this point. He's just chasing rings at this point. Why not?

He's just not a fit on our current roster . More of just a fancy name at this point

If he takes any minutes away from J.R Smith and Shumpert, that's a win for us, IMO.

I understand everyone's concerns about him, but it is still disappointing to know that we're not under consideration.

Buried lead. He waited because it's less work.

Please no Ray Allen.

Given he waited to take an easier path, I wouldn't imagine Thibs is on his short list.

I think it's naive to think that the Bulls poor play isn't a big factor here.

It is possible that the FO/Thibs rift is one reason he doesn't want to come to the Bulls. It is not like he is open to only contenders...he seems to be open to Miami, Clippers etc...

But, it is a good thing in a way too. It saves Thibs/GarPax from themselves in going after a washed up name.

That said, he might be valuable if you are in a game like yesterday and you can have him take the 3 instead of Derrick at the end. Other than that, he might also be an insurance for the McDermott minutes and maybe can help him out on his form/shooting ideas on a Thibs team.

They will have plenty of brotherly time on the bench anyways to discuss.
