Kevin Martin could pursue buyout with Wolves http://dlvr.it/8cj3mt

& from KC the other day...

K.C. Johnson @KCJHoop · Feb 16
Bulls like roster but would add shooter. Won't trade a big for a small. Won't trade future 1st. Will check buyout list for open roster spot.

We all know the Bulls are unlikely to make a trade at the deadline but if Kevin Martin is bought out, he may be the perfect fit for a Bulls team that can definitely use his shooting.

Well that would be awesome.

Does anyone know how much money the Bulls can offer a free agent? Is it just the minimum or do they have any room above that?

Let's talk now.....GREAT FIT!

Do your thing Gar.

Can Cavs use AV's disabled player exception to beat the market?

I am thinking Kevin Martin would see the Bulls as a great fit for him. If we could add a player like him with out losing Taj.....

I'd think so too.

If he's angling for one more largish contract before he retires, this is the place for him to audition.

Come on K-Mart. Do the right thing.

I don't think there will be a buyout. There is too much left on the contract. But I'd love to get him if he is bought out.

Nothing more than the minimum.

Well, if they don't sign Ray Allen, then probably yeah, but the Bulls do have a roster spot open and I'm sure they would pursue him if bought out...

Agree 100%.

The basketball fit matters less at the post-buyout price tag.

Skills fit becomes more important at that juncture.

Kevin Martin should not be the fall back option between those 2.

If Reggie Jackson is traded, there is NO better fit and need than with OKC.

Cleveland needs a backup big and a backup.PG. They have only one roster spot. I doubt they will go after Martin.

The Bulls are in a good shape...there are many potential buyout candidates....
Martin, Thornton, Prince and maybe more once teams find out there are not many teams ready to give up 1st round picks. Patience is a damn difficult thing to execute for fans.

He was responding to my question about the Cavs.

He's not the best fit at all. He isn't a 2 way player. I don't know how much burn Thibs would give a offensive specialist at the 2 when he is sitting next to Kirk.

I like it though. I think offensively, he is a nice fit. He could be a Jamal Crawford type for us but I don't see him getting enough time this late. I'm not questioning the move, just cautioning for those expecting a real effect on the court.

As a buy-out? Hell yeah!

I was big on Kevin Martin before the season started. As the season progressed and Butler became a beast of a SG himself, the need for a 3&D wing became more an issue than a 20ppg offensive only SG. But as a buy-out? Ummm.....what isn't to like?

Thornton would be my pick of the litter. Closest thing to a 2 way player out of the bunch. I'd sign him in the off season too if he came cheap.

I still think OKC gets him if he is bought out.

If by remote chance we do, then it would be fun to see a bench unit of:
Brooks + Martin + Dunleavy + Niko + Noah.

We'd give up an easy 2 every possession and make an easy 3 ourselves.

Jokes aside, KMart at that price would bring a LOT to our squad.

2nd year in a row now we see this about KMart and a buyout.

Bulls have to be interested, they have been mentioned with his name a few times the last couple of years.

This guy averages 6 FTA per game for his career. He knows how to get to the line and in the playoffs that is HUGE.

I'd give them a pick for the guy even......

I can't imagine Martin buying out a large portion of his contract to the point it makes sense for Minnesota AND going to play the rest of the year on a team for the minimum salary. It'd be great to get him then resign him with the MMLE for a year then use early bird to give him that last two-three year deal; I just don't see that happening.
