I think he adds shooting and size. He would be a nice 14 man. He would be ahead of Naz.

He was a Heat so no. Plus he's a brick maker.

Was he bought out? Bring him in. It would be nice to have a third LeBron defender in case one of the first two get hurt.

I can't say I've watched much of Shawne Williams. My memories are mostly back when he was a draft prospect and talking about him then.

Looking at his stats this year, he looks awfully solid. Good three point percentage, and he's a pretty athletic/decent defender by reputation. I guess what surprises me then is this:

Why are the Pelicans buying him out? They're a team still trying to make the playoffs, and it seems like he'd help them.

Ideal candidate is someone who could potentially be a backup 2/3 with a perimeter shot. Williams does fit some of that, but I feel like he's better suited at PF's these days, which makes hsi role redundant to Mirotic.

Of the guys out there, he's the best fit. More an insurance policy for a wing injury than anything else.

He can play some 3 or 4. HE can shoot. He is a far better player then that scrub Perkins. Who had half the board drooling

I see no better options out there to be our 14th man.

What's the point? When would he ever play? Doesn't do anything that Niko can't.

That's wrong. He can defend athletic 3s. Niko can't.

Shawne Williams makes no sense. If people feared Perkins would take Mirotic's minutes, that's exactly what Williams would do.

He is more of a SF, but he was playing stretch 4 for the Heat this season before being moved. He even started a lot for them at PF.

A decent spot guy with ok defense, but if we're in the market for a shooting wing, he isn't really that.

You aren't picking up buyout players to rotation players - you are picking them up for end of the bench depth. Just like Perkins wouldn't play unless Pau or Noah were injured or in foul trouble or in very particular matchups, Williams would't play unless Snell or Butler were out.

And given that the road to the finals goes through a SF, its smart for the Bulls to add SF defenders.

Edit: And he's shooting 39% from 3. I'm not sure how many better options you expect to find at this point in the season.

Williams wouldn't take many minutes from Niko. He'd take minutes from McDermott if we ever had to us him, or from Snell if he regresses or has a game where he can't hit anything. Maybe he'd steal a minute or two from Niko playing SF... but that's about it.

I don't view him as a SF anymore, though.

I liked the way the Heat used him at PF as a spacer.

That, to me, is his best position in the league right now.

I don't think he is quick enough laterally to play on the wing.

Good shooter but Bulls already have Niko who does the same thing and should be getting more time instead of less

I guess my point is, why do you want this guy taking minutes from Niko? Not a ton of added value. Can do better.

As insurance I wouldn't mind, MDJ can still go down and Taj is dealing with some serious injuries. He can't hurt us as a 14tn man.
