Also Ben Gordon to play 12 minutes to backup Jimmy at SG.

How is it a wash. Rose wasn't that GREAT of a player. The Bulls hopes weren't built around Rose going forward anyway. Jimmy clearly had passed Rose on the depth chart and it was clear that both Pau and Jimmy are the real keys to this team this Year. Jimmy and Niko along with Snell and possibly McD were the future after this season. The Bulls bring in a PG next season capable of running the offense as a true PG and the Bulls are still a legit contender. This year the Bulls have proven time and time again that they are that good with or without Rose. I would venture to say that there won't be much of a drop-off going forward and into the playoffs.

Tank until LBJ retires. That what every other team in the east is doing.

Jimmy Niko are the future, try to sway a allstar level player to play with these two gentlemen.

Taj + Noah or Pau + a pick for a PG and a backup big. Then we're back in business.

Thing is we can't make grand proclamations now.

While our ultimate hopes are dashed, you still have to see what you have in the playoffs.

To see if you are still a team close enough to try and somehow patch this up in the summer, or if we are now just so far off a real threat you just blow it up.

But blowing it up doesn't seem in this FO's DNA. Krause isn't here anymore.

In the past I would've said yes. But I truly do believe that this team was built this year with Championship hopes not surrounding Rose. The FO would have been foolish to put their stock in a guy coming off two knee surgeries and two years of rust. The FO had to realistically believe that or hope that they would have a guy who is close to the numbers he has exhibited and would rely on the added ability of Pau and emergence of either Snell or Jimmy at the SG position to get them over the hump. I believe that is the reason they moved up to take McD because they thought he would be ready to contribute as a spread guy by now. Like I said, I believe this team is still a true contender if the right moves are made by Thibs and the FO.

If the Bulls give Jimmy a max contract, I see no way how the Bulls even come close to winning a title. Derrick and Jimmy eating the majority of the cap doesn't do anything for this team. Jimmy is a fine player, but I don't see a franchise player... Not even close.

If rose wants to come back he can try. If he retires that's cool too. Either way you look to at the bare minimum use the MLE or MMLE to get the best pg available which may be brooks. Then kirk is coming back cause of his no trade clause. Finally, you try to trade for a PG - either trading up in the draft or trading a big. Probably multiple pieces in the trade.

Without a trade for a pg, there is no way MDJ is back cause i believe we can't sign him without an exception? Which we'd have to use on a pg right?

I understand that as far as the business side goes. But the moves made on the court would suggest to me that the FO didn't plan this team with Rose as the no. 1 option for this season. And if they did then you can forget about future movements. This team was built to win in the playoffs with or without Rose IMO.

The nba has more young point guards than it knows what to do with. Grab one on a rookie deal or draft one. You have to invest in one. Let Rose start, and when his contract is up, your young point guard will be up for an extension. Swap the old for the new.

Build around Jimmy, Niko, and said young point. You'll get a lottery pick from the kings. McDermott is going to at worst be a good role player, as is Snell.

Still a ton of good news going forward for this team. Derricks production was average this year, and the bulls are a 3 seed. You can replace average.

Build around Jimmy and Niki and pray. Can they use the stretch provision on Rose? Would make sense to open up space for somebody like dragic

Backup PG wasn't the weakness in the playoffs for the Bulls the past two seasons. The FO recognized that our low-post play is what held us back and having Noah and Taj didn't allow for the wings to have space. Getting Pau gave space to the floor and that's why McD was drafted. Bulls thought that and probably still believe that they can win with Kirk or even Brooks as the starting PG.
