Removal vs. Repair

Whats the difference?

6 weeks for removal
6 months for Repair

Do I have that right?

Please god Derrick, get the removal if possible... Not a time to think about 8 years down the line.

Unfortunately, I feel like the chances of this happening are slim to none.

If he has it repaired it will likely retear again at some point. If he has it removed he will develop arthritis down the line. Given everything he has said in the past it would seem his goal would be to preserve the meniscus.

Removal.

Rose's body has taught us its gonna do whatever the hell it wants, even if the odds against doing the same thing is like .5%. I'd just say to hell with it if I was Derrick, cut the bitch out and go balls to the wall this season, at least get that one ring for his career achievements.

if Rose is concerned about future like he says then hes getting it repaired again

plus it was looking like a long shot we made the finals...i think we're are pretty much done now even if he gets it removed

Actually, a Meniscus that was previously torn is far more likely to be less repairable. After an original repair, chances are 80% that it will be successful. Sometimes, it doesn't heal properly.

After it is repaired, the meniscus is less likely to remain healed after subsequent surgeries.

He's likely to have it removed honestly. He's going to have arthritis anyway.

This isn't career ending.

So if Rose gets it removed, how long does it take? 2 months?

Something like that, he'd definitely be ready for the post season.

Theres no more "down the line" "future" "In 5 years"

Man up like Russ did, and get it removed. Come back in 6 weeks and try to win a ship for your city.

Even if he gets it removed does anyone actually think he will be back in 2 months?

Should be medically cleared by then...yea. Unless he just chooses not to play or something.

People keep saying this and it's blatantly wrong. Russ had the repair and then had a few follow-up procedures. Bledsoe is the one who had the removal done on his lateral meniscus.

Unfortunately, no..

But someday Derrick has to wake up and ask himself, "Is this how I want to go out?"

I mean, he takes off another playoff and thats 4 playoffs in a row. You can pretty much forget about Drose if he gets it repaired again. 95% chance it just tears again.

Watching KC Johnson right now on TNT, He doesn't know much but it seems like he thinks he's gonna hang it up for the season.

He should remove it and from the guy who posted on reddit well before news came out. That's what he's doing and will be out 6 weeks
