I get where you're coming from, I truly do because in some part of me feels the same way, but I have to ultimately respectfully disagree.

You don't go from being truly great at your craft, mostly due to all the hard work you've put into it, while heavily relying on your body to have it let you down, not once, not twice, but three times for it to affect you mentally. He is only human. Some of us are treating him as some sort of machine, who should have no sort of emotions or feelings towards his body, or to have no signs of fear or doubt, that's crazy talk.

He has already proven to me at least how mentally and even physically tough he is. You don't go through all that tedious and grueling rehab process for as long as Derrick has and not be tough as nails, and come out of it almost being as physically dominate (though not as consistent) as he had shown prior to the most recent injury.

To me at least, this cheap shot jabs at Derrick's toughness is selfish talk and people who just want to see Derrick go out there regardless of how he feels or what his injury situation just for their own selfish reasons and that's just not right. The guy may be getting paid millions, but he is a freaking human being, he should have every right to make the best decision for himself, even if it means backlash from fans. Heck, opinions from fans in these situations should have ZERO affect on his decision making, just as it would or any other person in the same boat regardless of their employment status.

Quite honestly, he doesn't owe the fans anything. Sure, we buy his jerseys, buy his shoes, and even buy tickets to the games to support him, but he is the one that put in all the work to put himself in that position to succeed and be one of the best players in the world to warrant that big contract he received. This feeling of entitlement from fans to accuse Derrick of being weak, or too mentally soft is just ludicrous. But hey, this is just my opinion. I'd love for him to just be reckless with his body and just be like those heroes we see in films that just put their body on the line for that glory, but this is real life.

Glad to hear, can't wait to see him pain free and back on the court this year.

The Bulls said Rose will undergo a meniscectomy, which is a removal of part or all of the meniscus. The Tribune, citing sources, has reported there is considerable optimism that Rose's second meniscus tear is small.

Until the surgery is performed and surgeons know how much of the meniscus needs to be trimmed, it's unknown what the timetable for Rose's return is. The Bulls said general manager Gar Forman will address that issue following the surgery Friday morning.

If the tear is small and only a small portion of the meniscus is trimmed, it's possible Rose's timeline could be in the three-to-six week period. Rookie Doug McDermott, who didn't have the injury history Rose did, returned to the court following his meniscus surgery in three weeks and to practice in four.

This is positive news, but until some one in the organization officially announces the time table which states he could return this season, I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. Too many let downs, not only with Derrick, but with this team in regards to injuries the past few years, I just can't put myself in a position to feel dejected.

How can worst case be 8 weeks when he missed most of last season with the same injury?

because this is a removal and not a repair like last season.

He's removing it this time. I was given this info way before all of this came out so I am going to go ahead and be confident that it is 100% accurate.

Wow. This is a courageous move by Rose. He's willing to forego the "safer, cautious" option so he can come back quicker and play. This sure beats torturing fans by just sitting on the bench

a repair takes 4 months and you have to rehab as well. If you remove/trim it, there is no rehab or anything. You just have to wait for the surgical part to heal and once you're pain free, you are good to go.

He most likely will in 3-7 weeks depending on how much damage is found.

I am just worried that BJ and Reggie might decide to shut Rose down.

Wonder if Derrick comes back in 4-6 weeks....will Lebron make another video welcoming him back?
