Roster Page:
1. A separate roster page thread will be set up. Please reply on the roster page thread and list out your roster.
You MUST include the following items on your roster page
-Depth Chart
-Player Salaries
-Head Coach
-Future draft picks (both BAT drafts and NBA draft for rookies)
-Trades
2. You can make trades only after you have set up your roster page.

BAT Drafting Rules:
1. There will be a 13 round draft, allowing everyone to draft 12 players + head coach.
2. Draft picks, drafted players, head coaches and future draft picks (see below) are tradeable during the draft without any salaries implication.

Trading Rules:
1. Once the draft is completed, players' salaries will be taken into account. Players' salaries for reference: http://www.spotrac.com/nba/
2. You can make trades after the draft, but you will have to follow the salaries and CBA, i.e.,
a. if the total salaries of your players is over the luxury tax, the 125% rule apply.
b. if the total salaries of your players is below the luxury tax line but over the salary cap, the 150% rule apply.
c. if the total salaries of your players is below the salary cap, you can absorb the salary outright.

FA rules:
1. Players not drafted in the 13-round-draft can be signed as a FA based on first-come-first-served basis.
2. Their contracts will also be taken into account.

Future draft picks:
1. Every team will be granted the following picks and the picks are tradeable during or after the draft. While the picks won't affect your roster now, it will impact how bright your team's future is. If things go well, I may continuing the game later, so they are still of value.
- 2015 1st and 2nd
- 2016 1st and 2nd
- 2017 1st and 2nd
- 2018 1st and 2nd
- 2019 1st and 2nd

Please let me know if you have any questions. This is the first time that I have ever run a game, so bear with me if I had made anything not so clear or made any mistakes.

Happy drafting and trading!

Couple of questions Simon.

- Can we get a head start on the draft and start making picks now (as I have #1 overall)

- As I will be making the last pick in some rounds, can I make those the next morning if necessary (am in Europe so will sometimes not be awake at 11pm EST)

- For the rounds where we send in lists, can we put conditions on our choices (i.e. if A, B and C have all gone select D, if not select X)

- If NO to the previous question, could we expand the number of drafted rounds to 8? Generally in the playoffs you are relying on your top 8 guys, so would prefer to draft them if possible. It would still give us a decent amount of time for trades etc. if that started on 3/11 rather than 3/9, and the drafting tends to be the most important part of this game anyway.

- Is there a trade committee or are all agreed-upon trades automatically valid?

A few more novice questions -

- Draft time (mid-day here) I know I'll be away for during round 1 (of all rounds) - just checking, what we do in this instance is email you a shortlist of who we'd like to draft, and the highest guy not taken will be automatically be taken for us?

- I assume all player salaries are based on this season? In other words, for those building a team purely to 'win-now', salaries/contracts beyond this season are basically irrelevant for them?

- Are injured players included - i.e. do we treat players like Paul George as if they were healthy?

Yes, sure. I wanted to ensure people have enough time to prepare, but if you are ready to go, just draft the player you want.

Sure, I am at GMT +8 timezone myself so it should be in the afternoon at my timezone when you wake up.

Of course, just make sure you put it in a clear way so that I can understand.

For the trades made during the draft, as salaries aren't taken into account, they are automatically valid once agreed.
For the trades made after the draft, as salaries have kicked in, I will approve after checking the numbers.

Yes.

They are relevant - as I am envisioning an overall ranking taking into both win-now and future (5 years).

- Are injured players included - i.e. do we treat players like Paul George as if they were healthy?

I will leave the question for you guys to decide. Mass email to follow.

Thanks.

Just to clarify with this one, you don't 'BAT' with one or the other goal exclusively in mind, but rather each team is rated on a mix of the two factors?

The two goals are not mutually exclusive.
When we do the rankings, we will do one for win-now, one for best future outlook, and one overall.

As far as head coach do we have to keep the current coach of our team or can we choose our own?

Tetlak - you can always start working the "phones" for potential trades. Get some draft picks bunched together in later rounds. I had fun with that in the last BAT we did.

Never mind on that I read the rules a little more thoroughly.

First five picks went exactly as I expected after I went with AD.

6th pick - well, that was different! Not who I would have picked at all. Not sure he'll be anywhere near as effective without his backcourt running mate.

It was a tricky one, after a fairly obvious Top 5 there's a bit of a drop-off. I imagine Thompson will divide a lot of people that high up in the draft but hey, someones got to make this interesting :D

I was very interested to see if you'd go for Davis or one of KD/LBJ. Davis is probably a small step down in terms of winning right now, but he gives you a heck of a lot of flexiblity building the rest of the team.

Yeah, 6 is a bad spot. There are 6 or 7 guys who all have roughly equivalent value now IMO, so you'd probably prefer to pick at the end of that run (and have a higher pick in Rds 2 + 3) rather than get #6. One of the unfortunate things about ABBA draft order rather than snake - it stops the top picks getting a huge advantage, but it hurts the guys who get the 6-10th picks, as you get worse picks later without the megastar to compensate.

Seeing as i have the ability to lock/delete threads, is everyone cool if we start again and i get the 1st pick? :)

Seriously though, props to Simon for organising this to date. Pretty good timing to have an escape from basketball as well given the Rose injury.

To be clear, all communication for trades of picks i.e. engaging in trade talks for Davis, should this only happen through email, or can it be transparent in a relevant thread as well?

So I don't know how this is supposed to go exactly, but Context and I have made a trade and sent it in to SimonFish for approval. It's for the current pick and I can't imagine it being controversial, so I thought I'd announce it and get everything moving. Hooope this doesn't mess anything up :)

Dacheezwhiz Out:

#12
#37
#61

Context Out:

#7
#42
#306

Wooooo trades.

Shocked that Harden and Klay went before Russ. Hes been arguably the best player in the NBA this year.

We need to make a fake Woj account that tracks all the trades, signings etc.
