The FO. What is their worst mistake?

I among others are pretty supportive of the front office in general. While I don't think they are the absolute best there is also a NBA2K thought process on this board. Trades that couldn't happen or simply circumventing the actual CBA. I know many were pro Asik but if you look at the facts Asik was wasn't a blunder, although a great defensive big man. They got Gasol for a song or realistic value but most are overpaid. LaMarcus has to rank obviously. Mistakes happen in the draft though. The FO is a lot more aggressive than some would percieve. My #1 fault though was the trading of Korver. That was a bad salary dump IMHO. I can justify most other moves but that one not so much. I think I did at the time. #2 which will be #1 will bill be running Thibs out of town.

Trading Korver not only for a TPE but hard capping yourself at the apron by signing Kirk with the MLE instead of S&T for him in that deal and then maybe signing a guy like Marco for two years to the tax payer exception. A lot of other moves I can understand, that one I can't.

I was a huge fan of this front office when they took over but it has changed in the past few years.

Huge mistakes:
Trading Aldridge for Tyrus
Choosing Ben Wallace and dumping Chandler
Losing Korver

Other mistakes :
Not locking up Asik under their terms. They let him go out-of-house and he signs a poison pill type contract.
Not getting a backup center in last years draft. If we had Dieng, Rudy, Plumlee, etc it would free up the roster to trade Taj for a much needed wing.

One mistake people overlook is the hiring process that resulted in hiring Del Negro. They fire SKiles in December, they know that Boylan is not going to be their head coach. They wait until mid-June and their final candidates are Del Negro and Ty Corbin (train wreck of a coach as well). Don't forget, there were people on this board pushing for Thibs back then.

Free Big Macs for 100 points. Makes our crowds seem ridiculous; especially since...how many of them are really gonna keep that stupid coupon, save their ticket, and go out of their way to take that to McDonalds for a freaking Big Mac?

It would be much better for them to give out 20,000 coupons for Big Macs on the street to people who really need them every time the Bulls score 100. Then the crowd would look magnanimous for cheering. Then the players could justify padding their scoring stats by going full out for that last bucket even when ahead by 20. Then McDonalds, Chicago sports fans, and the Bulls organization wouldn't all look like dip%^&*#

At some point we'll have to agree on Carlos Boozer being a bad signing.

Not Ben Wallace bad; but bad nonetheless.

Back in the day at the old stadium they had to score 125 points to get a pizza. Don't recall if it was a personal pan pizza or large one.

Hmmm..I don't remember that. But then my days at the stadium were all between 1990 and 1993.

Right now their worst mistake looks like ticking off Tom Thibodeau's best friend.

But actually following through on where that feud is headed could end up their biggest yet.

Actually, a large pizza...now that would be something worth cheering for :o

Or, we could look at it as Thibs worst mistake is allowing his friend to speak for him in a national platform and trash his bosses. Thibs could have put an end to this long ago. I think he wants out worse than the Bulls want rid of him.

I think Boozer was worse than Wallace. I know Derrick got hurt in 2012. But, Wallace was not a part of a team which had championship ideas although they had a deep playoff run planned in that one year.

But, Boozer's was worse, IMO because the Bulls couldn't even trade him and lost with him in a year where he could have had a lot of impact(if he had complemented the roster better). Boozer was the better team-mate.

I also think it is all so connected. The FO wanted to resign Asik and they might have kept him and would have had more leverage later in a few years in getting better assets back.

But, that said, this is a topic where minds are set in what they think.

-Aldridge for Tyrus

-Ben Wallace

-Firing Ron Adams

-Bringing Kirk Hinrich back

-Hiring Vinny Del Negro

-Kyle Korver for nothing.

-Chandler for P.J. Brown and J.R. Smith

That is true. It might be the biggest mistake because I don't think the minutes thing was the main problem. But, it was one thing after the other which has probably compounded the impact.

You mean Ron Adams or JVG?. If it's Adams is not just his friend, he's also one the best coaches in the NBA he is in charge of the GS defense and they have the #1 def rtg. Also loved by bulls players and fired by Gar Forman.

I think al lot of mistakes have been pointed already, but the biggest point is: this same FO was always .500 or less before Thibs. That shows you they're not that good and there's no reason to trust them going forward with a different coach.

Worst is probably not getting Ron Adams back, hes a defensive genius

And I could care less what JVG thinks, hes probably still bitter about something Jerry Krause did 20 years ago

I like the 100 points for big mac deal. The years I was a season ticket holder best believe I used them the next day for lunch

The Ron Adams thing was strange and really bad. I defend the FO generally but that was bad. Really bad. Asik meh. Totally overpaid IMHO. Strange team we get behind. Going after Melo which I was behind should be a mark against them but they wouldn't sell the farm so that is a wash

They needed the Wallace signing to save face at the time after Krause striking out.

Don't get me wrong, I understood the logic in the Wallace signing. It just blew up in their face after the 1st season.

Looking at the Hinrich contracts, are the Bulls the first team to ever overpay the same guy 3 times? These aren't catastrophic overpays by any stretch, but you'd think they would've learned their lesson after the first two times.
