Votes:

Pacers over Wizards. Deng can contain Lebron, Klay can contain JJ, Favors can contain Mirotic. And I don't trust Faried at C.

Celtics over Hawks. Celtics has superstars and don't have Shaw as the HC.

Pacers smash the Wizards. The two big lineup destroys the undersized Wizards frontcourt. Perfect matchup for them. - they win in 5 games. Could we be heading for a fairytale 8th seed run here?

Celtics over Hawks. Closer than you might think just based on the names, and the Hawks have the far superior frontcourt depth. But Marc Gasol is smart enough not to foul out, and I don't think Dwight is healthy enough any more to own his matchup. And as Simon said above Brian Shaw really hurts here. Hawks grab a couple of wins, but Celtics in 6.

Can you use my roster like it is on the rosters page?? Not that it will change the outcome as it seems Brian Shaw is the catalyst. But Livingston isnt on my team. Cheers

8. Pacers over 4. Wizards

I had a tough time with this one, but I think the Pacers have what they'd need to slow down Bron (and JJ) in Klay, Deng, and Vogel's defensive system. The big men matchup is intriguing, and Niko and Faried would work well together given their skill sets, but I think they'd be overmatched against Favors and Hibbert and Faried is more of a PF so they are undersized. The inexperience at PG makes it a wash for me, but years 2-5 I think we'd see Payton/Lavine really start to come into their own. The flashes Payton has shown this year are promising.

In the end I gave it to the Pacers, debated a bit back and forth, but they'd take it in year 1. Wiz will grow into a force later on.

2. Celtics over 3. Hawks - I really like the starting big men matchup here, but the edge goes to Hawks who have better depth. Lowry > Hill. Wade's health will be saved for the playoffs, so I give him an edge over Derozan. Melo would likely be healthy at this point too, so he has an edge over Thad. It was a wash up until we got to coaching. Kidd has bounced back from some bad Nets days and proven himself a coach of the year candidate (echoes of my case that McHale is underrated. he has had a similar bounce back. see West thread). Celtics win in 7 with that last edge in coaching.

Wizards. Its too close to say and LeBron is on the wizards so I give it to them.

Celtics easily.

I'm biased here but no way Deng can contain Lebron! He gets smoked by Lebron on the regular. I'll give you that my front court is undersized but how is favors going to guard Mirotic out at the 3 point line. Similarly, Kenneth can take Hibbert off the dribble at will. Interesting debate!

Wizards vs Pacers
Winner: Pacers
Reasoning: I'm going with the upset here. I like Pacers guard play more especially at the 2, more playoff experience overall, and better coach.

Celtics vs Hawks
Winner: Celtics
Reasoning: This would be a close series, but I'm leaning towards Celtics. Celtics have a better coach and I think Melo can make a difference in this one at the 3 spot.

That Celtics team would feast on any of those teams.

I got Celts vs Wiz.

why first 4 votes? seems flawed. It is pure chance as to who logs on first to casts their vote. There should be a set timeframe like there was with every other portion of the BAT and then sum the votes to determine who moves on. Not being salty, just some feedback from my end. Thanks for the hard work.

agreed. the first to 4 seems flawed, but it was coupled with a 24 hour time limit per the original post too. And 4 is the # of games needed to win?

The matchups weren't called until a day had passed anyway.

Agreed as well. I would have liked each team to write an explanation on how they can beat the opposing team in a playoff series, and then all the active GMs plus anybody else can vote after seeing the responses with the majority votes moving on to the next round.
