I seen we have a bears thread so I was wondering if it be okay to have a baseball one for our Chicago baseball teams
I am a Cubs fans and this is the first time in years I have been pretty damn excited to watch games, and so far so good for us still very early though I know...I Love coach Maddon as our coach,he just seems like a cool guy who knows his stuff but also seem to make the game fun at the same time...Only concern right now is Lester but I will give him some time to get more adjusted to the National league other wise our other starters looking sharp and bullpen is also
Now some big news came out today,we have called up Kris Bryant and it is looking like he will play tomorrow and I am very excited for this kid,I think he is something special...Today's game can't come soon enough

Now Sox fans feel free to talk about them here to I just haven't been really paying attention to them so far,if you got anything to add about them lets hear it

This is the year. I kid, I kid. Definitely tides changing on the North side. I expect a competitive team this season that falls short of a wildcard spot but hey, you never know.

The future looks bbright for Chicago baseball. The dynamics of these two teams are interesting. The Cubs have tons of offensive talent in the majors and in the minors (Rizzo, Castro, Bryant, Schwarber, Russell, Castro, Soler). The Sox have tons of pitching talent in the major and in the minors (Sale, Quintana, Shark, Rodon, Adams, Montas). Cubs will have a scary good offense in a couple years, and sox will have a scary good pitching staff in a couple years. Both should be in contention too IMO. They both have stars locked up on CRAZY good deals too. Sox with Abreu, Sale, Quintana on the cheap. Cubs with Rizzo, Castro, Soler on the cheap. Rodon and Bryant will be demanding 30mil+ once free agency comes, unfortunately. I'm very excited regardless.

Sale is a fresh 26 year old CYA candidate. Rodon is a 22 year old projected ace. Samardzija doesn't actually get me too excited and will likely settle out the year as the Sox' 3rd best pitcher (but be the #2 due to LRL alternation). Quintana is a legit 2-3 starter and also young at 26. Add in Abreu, Garcia, Melky, and Eaton for offensive weapons... if the Sox can make the playoffs, that rotation could take them very far. If they are still in contention--or are leading the division--in July, I would not put it past them to make a splash and trade for another starting pitcher to make their playoff starting rotation about as nasty as possible.
I am more excited about this year for the Sox than I have been since 2006.

Have never been more pumped for a Cubs game in my life. It finally feels like the 5 years of sucking post 2008 are behind us. We've waited a long time for this. Finally here. Go Cubs, go. Here's to hoping for a long and illustrious career for no. 17, Kris Bryant.

Afraid not, not such a generalized thread as this. If you notice the Bears thread got shut down, and it was frowned on that it went on as long as it did. That is what the other RealGM sports forums are for and people are encouraged to use those.
If you want to make very specific off-sport topics during the year, Kris Bryant hits 5 HRs in a week or something, that's fine. But a thread to just casually opine about either team, we can't have it.
