Would the Bulls 'reset' and trade Jimmy Butler this offseason ? What would Celtics need to give you?

I come in peace from the Celtics board. (Oxymoron? lol).
In all seriousness, the Celtics are probably coveting Jimmy Butler. Can score, isn't afraid to take the big shot, and most importantly to Brad Stevens, can guard multiple positions.
So questions:
-would the Bulls ever consider resetting by moving Butler/Pau/Rose this offseason?
-would the Celtics be able to pry him away in such a scenario this offseason?
-if trading him is possible, what would you need from us?
From our end, our goal is obviously to put Butler at SG next to Crowder and Isaiah Thomas and go from there. This means that Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart would be available-with some of our picks.
So to get the ball rolling I'd propose:
2016 Brooklyn pick unprotected (currently#4)
2016 Dallas pick
2016 Celtics pick
2018 Brooklyn pick unprotected
Avery Bradley
Amir Johnson (Salary)
for Jimmy Butler+ filler.
Fire away guys...

The only way I'd consider trading Butler was if we're getting the first pick. Otherwise, I don't see the point of such a risk.

There's no value unless we knew where that pick was landing. *coughBenSimmonscough*

Actually, that's a pretty good proposal. Nets pick and another unprotected Nets pick in two years. Plus 2 more 1sts, Avery Bradley who everyone here covets. If you're going to deal Jimmy, this would be the deal.

Pretty much this. Unless Ben Simmons is coming in this trade, it's not worth it for the Bulls.

Man people love Jimmy in Chicago and once this new tv deal kicks in he will be on a awesome contract as well. Hard to see us trading him unless it was for another star.
Fun to talk about i guess.

If the next couple years are just like the one we are seeing now, then I think I'd regret not pulling the trigger for a massive haul. And it's not like the FO has made any significant moves to improve their future outlook. The future right now is Butler, praying Rose can stay healthy, praying Portis can be a legit starting PF, praying Mirotic/McD will be better than rotational players. Then whatever they can get in free agency when every team has massive cap space.
Having said that, the pick has to be #1 or #2 for a trade to be in consideration (Ingram is intriguing enough for me).

My thoughts as well. With that many picks, especially great picks, I have a hard time saying no. It's quite the haul. And if Paxson's making the decisions, they can rebuild on the fly.
You get one of Ingram, Bender, Brown or Dunn.
Hell, looking further, you can end up with Bender, Valentine and Demetrius Jackson potentially.

All for that deal. I don't see any retooling paths that end in championships, so I am aboard the rebuild train. Our front office is satisfied with competitive teams that stay under the cap and make the playoffs, so I just can't see it happening.

Why trade the players on our team that we'd eventually need to find and acquire again?
By trading Jimmy and Derrick, that means we'd take draft picks, and try and draft players of their caliber. But why, when we already have those caliber of players?
Us Bulls fans are spoiled. You know how many teams and fans of the NBA would kill to have a PG and SG combo of Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler???
Pass....

Since he's not an elite player, it would take 2 all-star caliber players and a non-protected 1st round pick to get me to trade JB. I'm all for it for the right package. But the Bulls need an elite player, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

If you could get the first or 2nd overall pick(Either Simmons or Ingram would be great) for Jimmy you do it. Any more picks is a bonus.

You'd want to combine it with tanking next year to really restock enough sure talent.
Sign someone to a 1 year deal like Noah, then clear it off again the following summer along with Rose.
Just don't forget when Jimmy was healthy, despite all its problems the Bulls were still a top 4 type team in the East.
So you would be voluntarily dropping down several tiers, and if you miss getting the next superstar with your best pick then you've probably traded in a perennial playoff team for 5 years of cellar hell.
And through it all... we'd have the same FO. Those are the guys you would be trusting to build it up again and find all the right pieces. I don't think they really deserve another whole 'start from zero' clean slate 5 year building window.
Keeping Jimmy and finding a new FO sounds more appealing frankly.

Celtics poster claims this was more than imagination at the deadline, but no idea of his credentials. Knowing what we know about how the Bulls operate and Jimmy's reported friction with the team, it wouldn't shock me.
Correct
Jimmy Butler was the target. A friend works in the front office, the deal agreed to was Jimmy Butler for Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, and Nets ’16 Pick. Agreed to by Celtics and Bulls, but Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf vetoed the trade. The Celtics will try again for Butler in the offseason.

So, that's only because of the injury risk. Let's say, he has no known risk of injury, he'd be just as coveted as Jimmy, but even more so. Guaranteed. Since he is, that lowers his value in the eyes of GMs and fans.
My point still stands. We've already got a leg up on so many other teams, since we do have 2 studs on the perimeter that are just entering their prime.
I wouldn't trade either guy, of course it depends on the trade proposal.
