OT: Illinois Primaries
Im a heat fan and I come in peace. I wanna talk about something important that's unrelated to basketball.
The primaries in Illiois have started and I want to encourage everyone here to go vote and tell others to as well.
http://www.elections.state.il.us/
I am from FL and I already voted and I want everyone to have a say in who will be the next president.
In addition, I encourage everyone to do thorough research yourself without listening to the media.
That's exactly what I did and I voted for Bernie Sanders. I didnt have a clue who this guy was until I researched about him, checked out his history and did the same with HRC (not even gonna talk about the other irrelevant candidates). I came away throughly impressed and shocked at how honest, foreseeing and relatable he was. I wont ask you to vote for bernie but I want you to research on your own and come up with your own decisions.
EDIT: I just wanted to add- The primaries in Illinois end on Tuesday(3/15) so people make plans now to go vote.
Bernie youtubes and link removed. While it's reasonable to inform us who you voted for and why, lets start it out without such an overt partisan angle. No partisan angle motivates the edit, since I early voted for Bernie myself. And no problem reposting them in the body of the thread. Thanks ~fleet

I'm voting for Kasich. He's the most experienced and most reasonable candidate, and the most capable of bringing America together

Not Illinois related.....I intended my vote for Hildog, but switched to Bernie. I can't waste my vote on a candidate with unanswered legal questions. I've supported her against Obama too. Plus, she pushed me over the edge with the triangulating comment about the Reagans. Too annoyed while I filled out my ballot. Just dropped it off in Maricopa county.

welcome to the revolution! Yeah same here, HRC and her political flip flopping based on what is popular that year is frustrating. Tired of her lies and centrist views on almost everything compared to Bernie

Trump is much brighter and more qualified than Clinton and will therefore win.

Since fleet asked me to post my videos down here I will do so
I wanna let guys know why I voted for Bernie. After many hours of extensive research I came away in awe and a lot of emotions. And I dont get emotional often, but I did when I watched some of his old senate videos that show what he stood for and has been standing for long before anyone here knew or heard of him

As much as I disagree with what Hillary Clinton stands for, every single one of the candidates are miles brighter and more qualified than Trump

My concerns with him is his record of accomplishment, or lack thereof, in Congress. Been there too long to not have gotten more done, which concerns me if he gets opposition from Republicans as president. But I like his outlook on the role of govt.

One of the things about Bernie's candidacy is that it's a movement. So many young and working class people have come out to vote. Significant numbers of millennials are interested in politics and consequently voting. Therefore, with him at the helm many of his supporters will continue to be very active in the political process by voting in the senatorial and house elections and that will put more democrats in congress which will help Bernie pass those bills.

See, I dont like that kind of thinking. That's like projecting incoming revenue from a theoretical expanding economy to pay for your programs. Almost as bad as supply side trickle down theory. Very iffy. No, I need to know how he persuades the skeptics. That is how I can be comfortable with him moving the country at the helm.

I find it slightly funny that after Republicans have spent the last 8 years obstructing, sabotaging, and doing everything they can to bring Obama down (best interests of the American people be damned), when it's finally their turn to offer an alternative, the best they can come up with is... Donald Trump or Ted Cruz. It would be hilarious if it weren't such a sad reflection on the state of our politics.

Re: OT: Illinois Primaries
Obama was a normal progressive Democrat before he went against the Republican machine.
By the time that nastiness was done, he was painted as a Kenyan, self-identified Socialist, Alinsky loving, homegrown terrorist.
I cant even imagine what they'll do to a Jewish, Socialist who is anti-corporate greed.
I can't support Bernie for 2 reasons:
1) His policies and Math are not the best of friends.
2) If Bernie is the Democratic nominee, then Trump wins in a landslide - especially in the Rust Belt - which has a lot of swing states. Hell, I can see Trump taking NY if Bernie is the nominee.
Hillary for me - easily. I actually think she should run with Sherrod Brown (and NOT the dour Jim Webb)
Rule of thumb is - "How many electoral votes can you get from your home state?".
Bernie maybe gets to count Vermont and New Hampshire as his home states.Hillary starts off with NY and Arkansas. Thats a MASSIVE mathematical advantage.
Like I always tell my progressive friends, vote with your head and not your heart. Please!

Hillary Clinton stands for a common sense lawmaker. Like a Hagle or a Ted Kennedy or a Biden.
You cant move the country forward if you are an idealogue. The same is true for Cruz as is for Bernie.
They ACTUALLY believe what they say. While thats honorable and all, laws arent made by the Presidents office.
I am not trusting Bernie with a 9% approval, mostly tea party type politics driven Congress.
Thats a 1 term presidency waiting to happen.
For love, not money.

I think you are making a false equivalence here but I understand your argument but this election has involved the youth in an unprecedented way. I am confident most of them will go vote in the local elections as well. I also believe that once Bernie gets in office, he will compromise and find common ground thats not completely on republicans favor. If not, executive orders will do. lol

Re: OT: Illinois Primaries
Listen closely to Bernie - after he rattles off some numbers about wages in Vietnam and his dislike of trade deals and free tuition and taxing the rich and his Wall Street speculation tax - no one presses him on the Math of it all.
My bet is that Bernies definition of "rich" is going to be much lower than the $250,000 that Obama campaigned on.
And his speculation tax is a non starter. Guess what gets impacted by taxing speculation - common folks retirement accounts, 401K's etc.

Every poll I've looked at has Bernie crushing Trump by at least 10 points. It's Hillary that will have trouble beating him, only cause HRC doesn't excite the young vote nearly as much, and Trump will attack HRC about benghazi/emails to no end.
