first great news in while.

Good news. Not surprising for me. Cris is obviously the better C going forward IMO and could likely be signed for less than Lopez makes. And his cap hold is tiny so moving Lopez could really help us in FA.

Moving Doug now would be very wise as his value will go down from now until the end of next year most likely due to contract status.

Getting a top 15 pick for Doug would be a coup. Top 20, ok.

Lopez should be less difficult.

I don't think it has to hurt our playoff chances either. Fred is just shuffling similar level players around night to night anyway, none are head and shoulders above each other. Just focus on giving Cris and Zipster minutes instead, you're probably not losing much unless we have injuries.

Well the big problem with moving Lopez is that you likely have to take back some pretty big salary. Expirings and a first round pick and I'm all over it. Though I'd prefer to package Doug, Lopez and a pick for a PG.

Yep as long as its expiring that's fine.

Bring E'twaun Moore home. :)

Why exactly do they want a first round pick? Doing a trade like this won't help the team out this season, unless they need it for a separate deal? Idk but so far it's been all talk and no action, they havent done anything and if those players are eventually leaving, how do you expect them to play well tomorrow night.

If true, tells me they intend to stay in this draft, even if Okafor is aquired. Which also verifies the report that the Sixers are demanding a 1st rounder and a player.

I'm guessing Philly wants a pick but Bulls want in on the allleged deep draft so they don't want to deal their own. So they want to get a pick, and trade either it or their own along with a player like Doug for Okafor.

But, an incredibly average C on a contract that reflects his incredibly average production is valuable.

Lopez clearly has first round pick value. Doug? Not a given with the way he's looked this season.

I think Doug could very likely still net a later first. He was #6 in the league in 3 pt % last year and has crepttl back up to pretty good shooting numbers this year. That's more than teams usually get out of a later first round pick.

That really depends. Are there any playoff teams that own their pick and need a center? As well as having the contracts to match $$?
Golden State would be a match made in heaven, but I don't think they own their pick

Maybe a late first for Doug. In the 20s.

It is a question of Hoiberg Vs Doug....who is more responsible for his struggles? If a GM believes that Hoiberg sucks at coaching(I have heard reporters who talk to other team scouts say they just don't get what the Bulls are trying to run), they might give a late first.

If they believe Doug sucks, then the Bulls get a 2nd round pick. Gar will still claim he got great value and will cite Isaiah Thomas as an example of any pick being valuable.

his salary will be around 13% of cap for the next 2 seasons. for a below average starting center that seems reasonable. not sure it's reasonable to give up a first rounder to acquire that contract though
