Is there an incentive for 'getting rid' of Lopez? We should be getting value for him.

Dunn, LaVine, Lauri for Jimmy Butler?

Minnesota gets 3 young pieces, we hurry up our rebuild with a top 10 player in Butler, whom will increases our chances of landing a star via FA, or trade.

Thibs probably too smart to trade Butler for that package though.

That would be the ultimate bait and switch by Thibs to acquire our 16th pick for nothing.

Don't worry gang. The 2023 plan has us signing Jimmy for a 2-year deal. He'll only be 33. Part of the concession is we're gonna have to let Lauri and Zach walk though, to clear cap-space. Our big 3 has got this (Dunn, Jimmy, Felicio).

How about:

Chicago Out: Wade, RoLo, Portis, Payne
Chicago in: Love, Shumpert, Frye, CLE 2019 1st

CLE Out: Love, Shumpert, Frye, CLE 2019 1st
CLE In: Wade, RoLo, Portis, Payne

Why:
For CLE brings in quality vets on short deals. Portis has upside. Payne is there when Rose breaks-down. Rids them of Love.
For Chicago: Love can help mentor Lauri, and be a future asset, but mainly to get the pick.

Lopez/Zipser for Mahinmi/Oubre.

Wiz save money, upgrade C position and will struggle to pay Oubre going forward anway, Bulls take on salary for a better prospect. Oubre's 21 and fits a big hole on the roster.

I agree it's great for us, but no way Washington trades Oubre for our guys. Maybe if we added Portis to that, but likely they'd want a 1st.

Would Chicago take Kenneth Faried and Emmanuel Mudiay for pure cap space then let Mudiay/Grant/Payne prove which one isn't the bust?
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

If not, does adding a top 20 protected 2019 1st Round Pick via Denver get it done?

I wouldn't be so sure. I like Oubre as a prospect, but he's not at some promising level where he will command a lot of value. Over his 2 seasons, he's shot 29% from 3 and 42% overall, has an assist rate virtually on par with McDermott's and commits nearly 5 fouls per 36.

He's got some promising tools, but if you compare him to Portis for instance, Portis is only a couple of months older but put up 16/11 per/36 with a higher assist rate, lower foul rate, and at %'s of 49 FG and 33 3PT.

I don't think you could convince me to trade Portis straight up for Oubre, let alone as an addition to the deal.

Consider also that Washington may not have as much leverage as they might hope for - I don't know their exact cap situation, but with Wall on an average yearly salary of 42mil once his extension kicks in, plus Beal currently on 24mil this coming year, on a deal that continues to ascend each year, and Porter Jr, that just signed on at an average yearly price tag of 26mil as well, they are going to be hard pressed to spend money on someone who will be a bench player as long as he's with Washington.

Getting rid of Mahinmi on 15mil/per (they take on RoLo but he's cheaper, shorter contract and a better player) as well as getting value for Oubre before he goes elsewhere, I think Washington have a tonne of incentive to take this move.

As for us, I brought him down to earth at the start of this post to highlight his value, but I do really like him. He's got great size for a 3, I like his shooting stroke even though the numbers don't reflect it yet, he's a great defender and he's still very young.
