Peace dude!

Welcome to the salary timebomb dilemma. Parker isn't a max guy, just like Jimmy isn't a supermax guy and overpaying guys can really hurt a franchise's flexibility.

How about Lopez for Henson and a FRP?

I would do that trade. Lopez helps us win now and we unload Henson. Losing a FRP would be unfortunate but I think it makes the trade fair for both sides.

Could care less about Okafor... unless Justin Anderson comes attached. That'd be nice.

Yeah...that's about it - maybe a second rounder. I tried to see if there was a Wade dump possible, but they don't have any bad contracts to stuff in.

Assuming we re-sign Mirotic to a cheap deal, hows about this for the deadline.

Denzel Valentine, Nikola Mirotic and Paul Zipser for Cheick Diallo, Darius Miller and Frank Jackson.

Pelicans improve their depth, shooting and SF talent, Bulls get multiple young prospects with upside and free up minutes for Lauri/Portis.

Rosters -

Rondo (25) / Holiday (12)/ Clark (11)
Holiday (20) / Moore (20) / Valentine (8)
Cunningham (20) / Zipser (20) / Valentine (8) - *Hill to return from injury*
Davis (27) / Mirotic (18) / Cunningham (3)
Cousins (35) / Davis (8) / Ajinca (5)

Dunn (30) / Grant (13) / Payne (5) - *Jackson to return from injury*
LaVine (33) / Nwaba (10) / Blakeney(5)
Holiday (28) / Pondexter (12?) / Miller (8)
Markannen (30) / Portis (18)
Felicio (28) / Diallo (15) / Stone (6)

(I've taken Wade and RoLo out because we should move them).

Diallo is a super long, mobile 4/5, one of the youngest guys in the league, pretty raw but put together some really nice games once he got minutes towards the end of his rookie year. Dude is super active on the boards, ticks a lot of boxes defensively, and has shown a suprisingly adept offensive game considered his 'rawness'.

Frank Jackson's out for the whole season I think with his foot surgery, but is a super young, upside guy who many of us were even enamoured with at 16 leading up to the draft. Pels are stacked in the back-court right now anyway.

Darius Miller is a fringe NBA guy, don't think there's anything to make of him other than he can eat up some minutes at SF.

Depending on what is cheap, not sure salaries work here, unless it is contract in 4-5 mil range, but still, it would have to be Mirotic for those guys and Val, Zipser for TPE (Hield).

If Mirotic is more expensive, and he should be at least around 7-8 mil, Asik and their 2018 could be worked in the deal if NOP would be interested, but it would depend on Mirotic performing imo.

As for return in your trade, I don't mind it, like both Jackson and Diallo.
Potentially adding Asik and 2018 makes it even better imo. I think they are going to make PO but a pick in 15-20 should be good too.

Still, I think they'd rather move their youth in pack (maybe with pick) for a starting caliber wing player. (more proven than Valentine or Zipser).
Also, their fans seem pretty high on Miles after shooting 40% on 3s last year.

This would a trade proposed (apparently) by a Pelicans podcaster on Twitter -

Asik and Ajinca (and a 1st) for RoLo.

Asik is on 10 mil and is a UFA in 2020. Ajinca 5 mil and a UFA in 2019.

That would be a decent 1st rounder, 15-20 range I'd say. I'd do it.

That would be a grade A deal if the FO did it.

From our perspective, I'd be all over deal like this.
I think their 1st is potentially the best one we can get (from teams considering to deal their picks)

Again, imo Pels will target wing player if giving up pick.
But on the other hand, this is coming from their fanbase.

I think there should be solid prospects in that range, few interesting wings.

If they want a wing - Dwade for same deal is fine.

Post OKC deal, I wonder if NY would do

Wade for Noah, O'Quinn and their 1st.

I would add Portis if they want.

I'd keep Portis and let them keep O'Quinn, he's pretty good. Would love to have Jo back as a vet and that 1st would be strong, though.

The Bulls should trade a dead asset to the Cavs for Shumpert and the Cavs own 2018 first (not the Brooklyn pick) to create room and money for Wade. Shumpert's contract fits into the leftover trade exception. It's a late 1st but still a quality asset.

Bulls - Tristian Thompson, Future unprotected 1st, and unprotected 2nd
Cavs - Robin Lopez and Bobby Portis

Cavs upgrade at the Center spot and lose a pick they probably don't care about trying to go all in for LeBron.

We create some breathing room with minutes at the 4/5 spots. The pick will be valuable when LeBron leaves (or stays and is old, ineffective) which will help our rebuild. Plus we might have better luck trading T. Thompson for a first rounder next off-season than what we've had trying to trade R. Lopez thus far. Similar money going in and out.

I wonder if it is possible within rules to work out a trade with Dallas for Noell.

He's not happy. We can get a season's worth of a look at him with Lauri and Lavine.

I would love to trade RoLo and either Bobby or Niko.

He'll be an unrestricted free agent, he can sign with anyone he wants to, the only bonus Chicago would have is his Bird rights. If Chicago wants him they can overpay for him next summer, they're going to have to pay someone, might as well be some younger talent.

In addition to his Bird rights, I'd attach a lot of value seeing him on my team (on and off court) for a season before paying $$$.

It's odd to me, there was talent out there to add to Butler. Noel cost a heavily protected 1st round pick and really some bodies. Rickey Rubio was on the block for a year for an expiring contract and 1st round pick. Brook Lopez was on the block for a 1st round pick.

If Chicago wanted to build around Butler they could have, they could have went after H.Barnes even with signing Rondo. They could have then moved Rondo and a 1st(mid 1st round) for Rubio. I'm sure they could have worked something out for Noel since they took a protected 1st they didn't expect to get.

Rubio, Butler, Barnes, Mirotic and Lopez(Noel?) is a good playoff team in their prime and younger group that of course you want to upgrade in the future and probably could have. Chicago would have had a shot at making a creative offer without giving up Butler to try to acquire Irving. The only reason I thought Chicago needed to trade Butler was because I had zero faith they were going to build around him which they could have.
