For now, the starters are set as the Bulls began a four-day stretch of practice before Thursday's season opener in Toronto. Jerian Grant, Justin Holiday, Paul Zipser, Nikola Mirotic and Robin Lopez will get the nod, provided Zipser's sore back, which he tested on Sunday, cooperates.

With Kris Dunn out, Ryan Arcidiacono projects to be the backup point guard in the 10-man rotation along with David Nwaba, Denzel Valentine and two of three from the big-man possibilities of Bobby Portis, Lauri Markkanen and Cristiano Felicio.

The big-man rotation projects to be the most fluid and based on matchups. Portis is a former first-round pick. Markkanen is the highly valued lottery pick. Felicio signed a four-year, $32 million deal in the offseason.

"The traditional big, there's not a lot of them anymore," Hoiberg said. "So you can get away with playing smaller guys, more skilled lineups. Bobby's an excellent screener, a very good rim roller and runs the floor as well as any big we have. There will be times we play five skilled guys.

Hoiberg was pleased with the young Bulls’ 3-3 record in the preseason because they were competitive in all but the game in Dallas, he still is pushing his message: If the three is there, take it.

The Bulls finished the preseason with 34.3 threes per game, with rookie Lauri Markkanen and Justin Holiday leading the way, putting up almost six per game. Yes, the Bulls want to play with pace, but a key element in their rebuild is emphasizing ball movement to open up the three-point line.

Hoiberg hopes that if the Bulls learn to play this way now, it will become second nature later.

“The biggest thing as a coach and as a staff is you have to try and play to the strengths of your team,” Hoiberg said. “It’s been different both years I was here. It was different all five years I was [coaching at Iowa State]. Again, you just try and put your players in position on the floor where you can utilize their strengths and play to the skills that they have, and this team is a movement team.”

0-3 but competitive 9 of the 12 quarters in these three games. A lot of threes, more than we've ever seen before. My gut tells me we might break our franchise record or get into the top 3 this season for 3s attempted by a Bulls team this season.

I for one will not be rooting for the loss. If they continually get losses and get a high pick so be it. If somehow this team makes a push like ATL did a few years ago, I'm not going to be rooting for them to lose then either

I'll be rooting for Markkanen to play well, and then when Dunn & Lavine come back, for them to also play well.

Hoping for a competitive game until the last 3-4 minutes of the 4th qtr and we find a way to lose the game.

Hoping to see Bulls average 40+ 3pt attempts per game with Lauri leading the way.

Kind of sad that we've gone from a game thread and post-game thread every game to one thread for three games.

I for one am going to root for the win...just because it's the Raps. It's always fun owning them. We can lose the other 78 games.

I agree

If mutha*******s wouldn't wait until 5 minutes into the 1st quarter to throw a game thread up we could have nice things :nonono:
