Unless somehow we get a mid first for Niko we'd probably better just ride him. Portis probably better to save for a draft day trade if needed ...

That's the problem, with both Niko and Lauri, it benefits our team a little too much that it could potentially affecting our draft position. Not significantly, but a game or two at the end of the season could be the difference between a top 3 pick, to a top 6 pick.

CHI gets: Luol Deng & Ingram/Kuzma/Ball/or a 1st
LAL gets: Nikola Mirotic

Who says no and why?

lol lakers getting rid of ingram kuzma or ball. they're giving up on two lottery picks and one of the steals of the draft for..... Nico? i assumed this was just a piss take but your second post implies you're actually being serious here

obviously the lakers say no. we're all here debating whether we'll get a late 1st at best and you think they're going to give us the number 2 pick in the latest draft

The Wizards would benefit from adding Niko.

CHI gets: Ian Mahinmi, Tomas Satoransky, Jason Smith, '18 1st, and '22 2nd
WAS gets: Nikola Mirotic and Quincy Pondexter

Who says no and why?

The Bulls would say no. Mahimni's deal (16M per, for 2 more seasons) is terrible. They'd have to send another 1st just to take that on.

Anyway, as mentioned before - I think Utah would do Joe Johnson (and his expiring contract) plus their first with some protections (I think with Niko's current play it could even be less than lotto protection - something like top 10 protection) for Niko. They might even send some cash to defer the cost of the remaining contract.

Joe Johnson probably wouldn't play a game for the Bulls and be bought out to go help a contender.

All the contending teams will be a destination for him.

Just to follow up on the above trade, the Jazz's depth chart would then be:

pg: Rubio, Neto, Exum (hey, maybe they'd want Payne as a "sweetener" to justify the mid-first? please?)
sg: Mitchell, Hood, Burks
sf: Ingles, (Hood), Thabo
pf: Niko, Favors, Jerebko
cc: Gobert, (Favors), Udoh, Bradley

Fair enough. I think they might too, but I think they'd consider it. I mean, we already have a report out there that they're shopping Niko and this move obviously helps the tank. Plus, the Bulls have gobs of cap space. It would seem one of the top trade goals for the Bulls would be obtaining 1st-round picks. Additionally, Satoransky is an asset. He's 26 and a decent, play-making combo-guard/wing. He's not too old for our timeline and is on a very favorable deal ($3.1M next year).

I wonder if Charlotte would be interested in Niko for their 1st?

Walker
Batum/Monk
MKG/Lamb
Mirotic/Williams
Howard/Kaminsky/Zeller

Any teams on the playoff bubble or who think they are are good targets. That way, if they don't make the playoffs the Bulls get another lottery pick.
