Draft Party 2018 - Woot woot!

Post#1 » by dougthonus » Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:50 am

We don't know exactly where the Bulls will pick, but we can expect it to be an exciting draft for Chicago with two first rounders.

I'll be hosting the 12th Annual Doug Thonus Draft Party. If you'd like to come please PM me the following information:

1: Email address
2: First name

FAQ:
Q: How many people are coming?
A: Presently 23 are signed up, typically I get about 25 sign ups and 20 show ups, but I expect record attendance this year due to the excitement of the pick.

Q: What should I bring?
A: a snack, a beverage, or $5 - do not bring anything with nuts as myself and daughter are allergic, I will have Pizza and probably some beer / softdrinks available.

Q: What time should I arrive?
A: Anytime after 5:30

Q: Can you get me from the train?
A: Yes, take Milwaukee District West line and get off at Roselle. Usually someone at the party will drive you home or I can drop off at the trainstation later.

Q: What if someone on the board is there that I have argued with?
A: No one has ever cared about this ever. I doubt anyone even knows whom anyone is on the board at the party.

Q: Should I really meet a bunch of weirdos on the internet?
A: If you love a bunch of die hard Bulls fans loudly talking about basketball for four straight hours, then hell yes.

Is this the 12th annual? 13th? I've always been interested in coming, but its quite a trek up from Dallas.

It's the 12th time I'll be hosting the party. I also went to one the year before I hosted at ESPN Zone, but that proved more difficult to manage and expensive.

I would say this has to be the most appropriately hyped draft night for the Bulls since at least 2007. I mean in 2008 we knew we were taking Rose and last year we didn't know we were trading Jimmy and were bummed out on the team in general, so this is gonna be pretty lit.

Last year was my first and it was a great time, very therapeutic. Highlight of the night had to have been the brief moment of joy when we drafted Jordan Bell. When I then looked down at my phone I could only brace myself for the impending meltdown, and it didn't disappoint. Hope to make it again this year.

I've been to the last 4, don't plan on missing now! Count me in. My 1st one was the Doug Mcdermott fiasco. That was more like a funeral than a party lol

Thats what i found troubling. If just about everybody at a fan party knew the Doug thing was going to be a disaster, how in the heck did gar not? This year i will say though, instead of pizzas we should be having crow instead, because the Markkanan pick didn't get much love either. But last years bad vibe pales in comparison to the Doug trade. That was a whole other level of negative energy, and rightfully so. That probably was the biggest thing that led to the rebuild. Things could've turned out far different if we walk out with 2 quality players, instead of 1 useless one. Not only would that have been useful on the court, but also as potential trade chips

For info on a forum that actually talks Fantasy sports and not spammed with soliciting leagues, PM me. The more the merrier !

Damn, I will be in Telluride for the Bluegrass Festival on draft night. Moving to Durango next month too.

You guys will have a blast! Doug does it right. I wish I could be in two places at once.

As always, we have a nut free house, so don't bring snacks with nuts if you bring anything. Pizza / Booze / Soft drinks will be provided. You can either bring an app / drink / something or chip in 5 bucks.

I'd love to make it but for obvious reasons, logistically it may be hard, but a suggest: A Big Red Bus recording straight after the draft to get in real time reactions. The takes from our mutual friend would be fun.

Going back to Doug's house might be PTSD. But I'm hopeful to make it.

Usually difficult to do that because there are too much party logistics to manage as people leave at different times.

He's probably only about two hours or something near that.

I might just swing by this year. Should be an exciting draft.
