Woj: "Bulls to be a factor in July"

On the ESPN Draft special his take is they're going to be "sneaky" in free agency as they think they've already got an attractive young core that people would want to play with. Says the rebuild has been sped up and that he expect them to be a factor in July.

We have room for a max after we re-sign LaVine?

I don’t think we have Lavigne’s bird rights

I don't know what that means. Agents will surely want to use any team with cap space for leverage. And don't call me surely.
Really aren't any FAs are there, that one guy isn't coming here, not sure who else makes sense.

If this is serious, I don't know what i'll do. This free agent class is not that good (relative to who the Bulls can acquire) and our core is not good enough to compete in the playoffs. If we spend our money on first round exit talent, they just pushed back the rebuild not sped it up.

Good one by Woj. Nobody good really wants to play with Kris Dunn and Zach Lavine. Let's be serious here for a moment.

Lauri and our picks aside from Dunn and Lavine could look attractive to some if the money is there. Not saying I’d go that route right now. But this board wa undervalues what we do have. Lets not forget that simply keeping Niko could have landed us in the playoffs last year.

Yes to Marcus Smart. Not for the max though. He's not a max player but worth more than Lavine, by A LOT. No, hell no, to Jabari Parker.

If we won't get LBJ (we won't) we save our pennies and wait for it season or two to go big. Though, Lauri shot tasty three Lebron's hands on his face so why not?
We save our pennies, please. Only cheaper signings if we're not getting two stars, which we aren't.

$25 million w/Nwaba or $27 million w/o if they do the other deal before Lavine's contract is finalized since he only has a $9 million cap hold.

It would be so typical of the Bulls to sign guys like Smart and Parker and max out as a 4 seed in 3 years, only to repeat the horrific process.

I was listening to ESPN earlier on the ride home. Some guy on the Will Cain show was talking about rumblings that Durant’s people might encourage him to move on from GSW. His reasoning is that the chemistry between he and Curry has been a bit wonkier than what most people believe. Also said that Durant still really hasn’t accomplished what he truly set out to accomplish, which was to shake the bridesmaid stigma. Said that after a couple of rings, he might decide that he wants to improve his legacy by going to a large market and building a legacy as the undisputed alpha for a storied franchise. Mentioned LAL specifically but my thought is that Chicago could just as easily fit the bill and is in a much more generous East.

Thomas is likely getting a 1 yr try out deal in free agency this summer so he could use up some of that free cap space and wouldn't impact any 2019 and beyond plans.

Yeah this is doubly bad news.
Bulls overestimating the talent they currently have and think the rebuild should be sped up. That's not good.
Plus, even if we were a desirable locale, I see basically no exciting free agent options. Even the RFA field is kind of crummy.
